What people are saying:

The national key cultural relics protection unit was built in the Ming Hongwu 13 years (AD 1380), the first name of "Wanghailou", the Ming Jiajing years changed to "Zhenhailou", meaning "Xiongzhen Haijiang." As a famous cultural landmark in Guangzhou, Zhenhailou in 2019 selected "China historical and cultural famous building." The main museum site of the Guangzhou Museum is located here. In 1929, the Guangzhou Municipal Museum (the predecessor of the Guangzhou Museum) was opened in Zhenhai Building, the first museum in South China. It has important significance for the cultural development of the Lingnan region. After the establishment of New China, the Guangzhou Museum has gradually developed into a comprehensive museum of history, research, exhibition and promotion of Guangzhou's culture. In addition to the Zhenhailou Exhibition Area, the Guangzhou Museum also includes the Zhongyuanlou Exhibition Area, the Sanyuanli Memorial Hall of People's Resistance against Britain, and the Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Uprising Command of the Three-Year-29th Uprising.

Additional Information

Guangdong Museum is situated on Yuexiu Mountain in Yuexiu Park. The Zhenhai Tower in the museum's address is one of Guangzhou's landmark buildings. The tower was originally built in the Ming dynasty when the city of Guangzhou was being extended by Zhu Liangzu. The Zhenhai Tower has five square-shaped stories of similar construction, and so is known by the people of Guangzhou as the "Five-Storied Tower." From the top of the building you can overlook the city, which is listed as one of the eight sights of Guangzhou. As the Guangzhou Museum now, it mainly collects and displays historical artifacts local to Guangzhou. Visitors here can learn much about Guangzhou's history and culture.
