Tickets are not accepted near Xiajiu Pedestrian Street in Liwan District. The buildings inside have Lingnan characteristics. The Damo Hall and the 500 Arhats Hall are the highlights. They are worth visiting. Nearby are markets selling cultural relics and antiques.
The predecessor of Hualin Temple is Xilaian. Before the Sui Dynasty, this place was on the Bank of the Pearl River. In the ordinary seven years (526 years) of Emperor Liang Wudi of the Southern Dynasty, the Buddhist monk Bodhidamo of Tianzhu (ancient India) came to China to preach. He first landed at the beginning of his coming to the west, and built Xilai Temple at the landing place. Later believers respected Damo as the ancestor of Zen Buddhism in China, so they called it the beginning of the West. Hualin Temple has a history of more than 1400 years. It has been carrying lights in Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties.
Hualin Temple is very small. Compared with several big monasteries in Guangzhou city, Hualin Temple is much smaller and does not need admission tickets. This is the first stop for Master Damo to come to China. Because of several coincidences, he is especially interested in it.
Hualin Temple is located in Xiajiu Road, Liwan District, Guangzhou, which is the famous area of Guangzhou Xiajiu Beijing Road. Looking at the map next to Hualin Jade Ware Street is better. The appearance of Hualin Temple is not very conspicuous. After all, it is a bit historical. It's also quite large. There are several buildings, incense burners and some monks. They look old.
Hualin Temple is on Xilaizheng Street, Xilaizheng Road, Xiajiu Road. In the past, we could only find the plaque of Damoto's landing in the lane, but now the plaque is protected by glass as a cultural relic and moved to the middle of the road. It may not be so easy to find. Changshou Road Station is near by subway. Both Changshou Road and Xiajiu Road can enter the lane. What impressed me most was the Shrita and the 500 Arhats Hall. When I was young, I often came to visit my family and walked in with my classmates.
Hualin Temple is adjacent to Hualin Jade Ware Street. Jade stone adds extraordinary and refined tranquility to the temple. There is no Hall of great majesty in the temple, so the Hall of 500 Arhats becomes the main hall. Entering the gate, there are seven stories of the Shrine Tower, each with delicate patterns on each side.
Xilai Temple was founded in Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties. It was once called five jungles together with Guangxiao Temple, Liurong Temple, Dafo Temple and Haizhuang Temple in Guangzhou. In the twelfth year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1655), Daxiong Palace was first built, and Pangcha Room was built in the second loft hall. Xilaian Temple was transformed into Hualin Temple, which became one of the four major jungles of Buddhism in Guangzhou.
Hualin Temple is the cultural exchange place between China and India, the ancestor of Zen Buddhism, Bodhidama, and the first of the four major jungles of Buddhism in Guangzhou. Hualin Temple is located in Xilaizheng Street, north of Xiguan Xiajiu Road, near Xiajiu Pedestrian Street, Kangwang Road, Guangzhou. Transportation is convenient. It's worth seeing.
