Xinhai Baolu Monument

Xinhai Qiubao Road Death Memorial is located in the northwest of People's Park in the center of Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, China. It was built in 1913. It was a memorial building built by Chuan Road Head Office to commemorate the martyrs who died in the Sichuan Road Protection Movement in 1911. The Sichuan Road Protection Movement was one of the prominent historical events during the Revolution of 1911. It created conditions and opportunities for the outbreak of the Wuchang Uprising. The monument is 31.85 meters high. It is a masonry structure and consists of four parts: the monument platform, the monument base, the monument body and the monument head. The monument monument is modeled after the railway platform and is cylindrical in shape. The pedestal and the body of the stele are in the shape of a square cone, and the four sides of the pedestal are the embossed patterns of the railway track, the locomotive, the signal lamp, the switch and the automatic coupling. The body of the stele is embedded with long bluestones on all sides, and the words "Monument to the Death of Qiubao Road in Xinhai" are engraved on all sides. It is written in four fonts, Kai, Cao, Xing and Li, and each character is about 1 square meter in size.
