Gyeongju Oksanseowon Confucian Academy

Oksan Academy is an academy dedicated to Mr. Li Yandi (1491~1553), which was established in the 5th year of King Seongjo (1572). It was called Yushan Academy in the 7th year of King Xuanzu. The academy is surrounded by Ziyu Mountain, Daode Mountain, Huagai Mountain and Wuhe Mountain. There are also beautiful natural landscapes such as Guanyutai and Xixintai, which have become the obvious characteristics of Yushan Academy. The academy is large and famous, with more than 100 houses. It admires the knowledge and character of Li Yandi, one of the five sages of the East. Including the No. 525 treasure, The History of the Three Kingdoms, a total of 866 kinds of books and 4111 volumes are preserved. Yushan Academy, Pingshan Academy, Daodong Academy, Sao Xiu Academy, and Taoshan Academy are also known as the five major academies in Korea. The academy, the place used to cultivate talents in ancient times, is a private educational institution. Although these places are no longer used for classes, many activities such as inheritance, sacrifice, and etiquette education are held every year.
