Attractions in Hameenlinna

The Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral was built in 1862 on the slopes of the Kadayano Peninsula and was completed in six years. It is the larger Orthodox church on Scandinavia, and the Finns call it the “Russian Church”. The exterior of the church is composed of a red main color with a representative onion top. The interior dome depicts gorgeous decorative paintings and religious allusions, and has a rich traditional Eastern Orthodox church art style. There are thirteen towers in the church. The crosses on all the spires face the east, symbolizing Jesus and the twelve apostles. The shape is very striking.

The Finnish National Museum is located in the heart of Helsinki, particularly close to the Parliament Building.
