Trendy restaurant with good steaksThis is not the easiest of places to find, you have to go up in a lift to reach it. The decor is very trendy although the clientele were of mixed ages. The food was good and steaks cooked very well. We did have to wait a very long time for our deserts, but the waiter acknowledged this prior to us saying anything and had free drinks bought to the table. The music is quite loud and got a bit repetitive after a while, but food is good. Its not cheap, we had three courses for three adults and wine and the bill was £250. Then again Hong Kong is not cheap!
amazing decor, delicious food, great serviceThe international staff deliver great knowledge about the food and excellent service. The décor is lovely and the food delicious. We even had a recommendation from the delightful manageress, Kate for what cocktail to order. She runs a tight ship and the training and service she has instilled makes this like a restaurant in London. The meat is divine so if you like tender steak, great wine, and interesting starters this is the place for you. Make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Good food, decor and atmosphere. This was our first visit to Gaucho and it was a good overall experience. Gaucho is an Argentinian steakhouse with a good Central location on Hong Kong Island just a couple of minutes from Central MTR station. The atmosphere was great and the staff very helpful especially our waitress who spent time explaining all the different cuts of meat the had. The food was above average but the only down side for me was the cost. Hong Kong is not the cheapest place to visit but at nearly 1500 HK$ (£130/£140) for 2 mains, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine there are other restaurants in HK that will be as good and cheaper!! Worth a visit for meat lovers though
Great Steak, Great ServiceIf you are looking for a place with great steak and hip ambiance, this is the place for you.The lady served us called Giada she really nice and friendly. She introduced different cuts of the steak to us, suggested us the size and portion we should choose, recommend fine wine to us... Gaocho isnt romantic, uptight kind of restaurant, but if you are looking for a more causal and hip restaurant, this is the place for you.
Good food, terrible musicWent there for a family dinner Sunday night. The music is better suited to a lounge or runway with a constant drumbeat that only changed in intensity for some two hours. For all the emphasis on Argentina, strange that there was no effort to bring in some Argentinian music. We were in a booth which amplified the sound as the speaker was right overhead. The waitress couldnt turn it down much as they didnt have localised speakers.Good food and service, but a place to be avoided if you want to talk to the people at your table. PS: good idea to bring aspirin as well.
