About Honghu

Honghu City is surrounded on its east, south, and north by the Dongjing River and is famous as one of China’s major producers of grain. Honghu is located entirely within the eastern ancient Yunmeng Marsh on the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River. Its topography is broad, flat, criss-crossed by rivers and canals, and dotted with lakes. Honghu City has a long history and rich culture. The water of its lakes has a delightful color, and the area abounds in natural scenery and cultural sites, including many famous ancient sites.

Chibi Ancient Battlefield was the place where the Chibi War broke out at the end of the Eastern Han dynasty. It is one of China's most famous intact ancient battlefields. It offers prominent riverside town scenery. Qujiawan is an area of rich revolutionary history. Many of the older generation of revolutionary martyrs like He Long, Zhou Yiqun and Duan Dechang fought in Qujiawan. The capital of the former West Hunan and Hubei revolutionary base is located here on an old street which has long been listed as a major historical and cultural protected site and has become a national educational destination and a destination for history education in Hubei Province.
