What travelers say:

The oldest park in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) designed and laid out in a classical way. Historically, it is believed to have been built in 1818. In fact. The plan was developed by Ozmidov between 1816 and 1817, who was the architect and cadastral engineer of Bissarabia at the time. The main project began in 1825, when cadastral engineer Bergdan Eitner planned the alleys and planted trees and shrubs, including 1,000 acacia trees. The public garden was finally formed in 1835. Entrances, two 13 m deep artesian fountains, leisure pavilions, minarets and two clocks followed. Until 1863, the park was surrounded by vine fences, which were later replaced by wooden fences, then by stone walls at the border of the town hall, and finally by cast iron fences. Designed by Alexander Bernardazi. In 1885, the monument to Alexander Pushkin was erected here and built in 1928 - Stephen the Great. In 1958, 12 busts of Romanian literary classics were erected in the classical alleys, and in the 1990s some of the great Romanian writers of the 20th century were added. There are 50 trees in the park, some of them mulberry and acacia trees, which are 130-160 years old.
