The Church of Notre Dame in Kazan used to be the living place of workers in the suburbs of Irkutsk. There was no church, so every morning the workers had to go to the city to worship and then return to the construction site. To solve this problem, the government decided to build a church here. The church was founded in 1885 and completed in 1892. The church was decorated in Byzantine style in Russia and was jointly completed by many famous icons painters, silversmiths, gilders and sculptors of the time.
