Celebrate New Year with Lanterns in Kaifeng
#yearofrabbit #tripblazers #china
What is better on a cold evening than the warm glow of lanterns in the distance? I loved all the colours and themes of the lantern exhibition at Qingming park. Seeing the display helped me get into the festive mood right before Chinese New Year this year. I look forward to setting my own lanterns up when we get back home after our travels!
Spend a day in the Song Dynasty at Qingming
#newyearadventure #tripblazers #henan
I loved spending the day at Qingming park in Kaifeng! There were loads of yummy snacks to eat and the best part were the shows. Thought the park all through the day are small and large cultural shows aimed at showcasing the culture and traditions of the Song Dynasty in this replica town.
The town was modelled after the famous painting ‘On the River during Qing Ming festival’ and you really feel like you’ve stepped right into the painting!

With the Song Dynasty culture, folk customs, royal gardens and ancient entertainment as the theme, the cultural theme park featuring tourists' participation experience reproduces the prosperity of the ancient capital of Beijing.

The Kaifeng Millennium City Park, a recreation of the bustling scenes of Bianjing during the Northern Song Dynasty
The Kaifeng Millennium City Park is based on the realistic painting 'Along the River During the Qingming Festival' by the artist Zhang Zeduan. It recreates the urban culture, folk customs, royal gardens, and ancient entertainment of the Song Dynasty, showcasing the bustling scenes of Bianjing at that time. Inside the park, visitors can see famous buildings, restaurants, tea houses, pawnshops, and other civilian daily life facilities of the time. There are also different antique performances every day, such as 'Judge Bao Patrols the Bianjing River,' 'Pan Jinlian and Wu Dalang,' 'Song Dynasty Warship and Horse Performances,' and so on, displaying the folk customs of the time.
It is best to avoid visiting during holidays. Entering the park around 3 pm and leaving at night allows visitors to see the daytime scenery as well as enjoy the beautiful views around the Rainbow Bridge under the dazzling night lights. To gain a deeper understanding of Northern Song culture, one can purchase tickets to the 'Dream Back to the Eastern Capital' performance. The ticket includes admission and is quite a good deal as it covers two meals.
Kaifeng's attractions are very concentrated, and most can be reached by bus. Taxis are also inexpensive, with a starting fare of only 7 yuan. If time allows, walking is even better. With Longting as the center, attractions such as Tianbo Yangfu, Han Garden, Imperial Street, Kaifeng Millennium City Park, Kaifeng Mansion, and Bao Gong Temple are all nearby.

Kaifeng City Hall Theme Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Traveling to Pao Bunjin (Kaifeng)
🧧 Thai people who like Chinese movies would probably know Judge Bao of Kaifeng Court, and certainly, many would want to see the actual historical site. The Judge Bao Memorial is one such place that is worth visiting at least once.
🌟 If you want to delve deeply into history, the ticket area offers the option to walk with a guide who will narrate the history of each site. However, this time we chose to go without a guide because we stopped to take photos all along the way, as the views are very beautiful.
🌟 We visited during December, which was very cold, with snow as well. I would recommend that those planning to visit choose a time when it's not too cold, as there is a lot of walking to do.
🌟 Overall, I think Kaifeng is worth visiting at least once because it's beautiful and full of interesting stories. Plus, the place is easy to navigate, visually clean, and fun. 😚
🧡 You should go 🧡
Shanxi, Shaanxi and Gansu Provincial hall. Kaifeng city, Henan province. This beautiful hall as a government house was established during Song dynasty flourishing time. The merchants born in Gansu, Shanxi and Shaanxi who had done trade in the prosperous city of Kaifeng has found it. They united their efforts to create a guild of three North West province union and to facilitate the business operations, if it says nowadays. The buildings are really beautiful and reflect that prosperous time and great success.
#lightthecity A little expensive (120 rmb per person)but you can easily spend the bulk of the day here to get your moneys worth. We were only going to stay a few hours but ended up staying the entire afternoon and into the night. The park itself is huge, and it reminds me of Disneyland with a Song Dynasty twist. There are no rollercoasters though! There are shows running every twenty minutes so make sure to plan out your visit. It is also very beautiful at night (there is a final big show at 8:15 pm by the lake so be sure not to miss it!)and there is a Foodie Town with lots of great things to eat!You can even ride camels or other animals as well!Would highly recommend this place if you want to learn more about the Song Dynasty!

Longting Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Song Dynasty Yuhe River. This is the free from any admission park going along the river with beautiful gardens and pavilions. Yuhe river connects two important and popular landmarks of Kaifeng city, Longting Park (Longting lake) and Baogong Lake. That's making the moving between locations easy and more interesting during the travel. Actually, Kaifeng is very convenient city for independent travelers.
Longting Park | Snow Scene
✨Chinese architecture, under the contrast of accumulated snow, appears solemn and solemn, and a sense of history arises spontaneously. Red walls and white snow, a thousand-year-old CP, the aesthetics of our ancestors never go out of style.
✨The accumulated snow by the lake and the slightly frozen lake surface create a unique natural scenery of the northern country, which is thought-provoking.
Longting Park
Kaifeng| Longting· Red walls, green trees, glazed tiles, a lifetime of prosperity, a lifetime of dreams
| Longting· Red walls, green trees, glazed tiles, a lifetime of prosperity, a lifetime of dreams. The past and present of Longting Park
The main buildings of Longting Park consist of the Meridian Gate, the Jade Belt Bridge, the Longting Hall, and the Wanshou Palace. It was first built in the 31st year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1692 AD). In order to facilitate the local administrative officials to pay tribute to the emperor, a "Wanshou Pavilion" was built on the coal mountain of the original Zhou Royal Palace. The pavilion enshrines the plaque of "Emperor Wansui", so it is also called "Longting". In the 12th year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1734), it was renamed Wanshouguan. During the Republic of China, it was renamed several times, and was named Longting Park, Zhongshan Park, and Xinmin Park. Until the liberation of Kaifeng, Chairman Mao came here in 1952 to change back to "Longting".
Longting Hall
The Longting Hall is built on one layer and built on another. Unfortunately, the river disasters of Kaifeng City in the past dynasties have buried the former Six Dynasties Palace under our feet. What we see now is the Longting Hall built on the site of the original Six Dynasties Palace. The hall is located on the top of the blue brick base, up to 27 meters high, using a double-eave Xieshan-style architectural structure, (Figure 6 eaves) in ancient times was a manifestation of noble status, golden and magnificent, majestic. Today's Longting Park is one of the iconic buildings of Kaifeng, still located on the central axis of Kaifeng City, with it as the center has formed the largest scenic area in Kaifeng, so it is said that Kaifeng must visit Longting.
Standing on the top of Longting and overlooking, what you feel is the blend of the past and the present, surrounded by water on three sides, that is probably the lakeside of the Pan and Yang families, and the beauty of Longting is all in sight. And the wind chimes hanging on the eaves, with the breeze blowing the wind, what you hear are the stories of the past and the present.
Standing at a high place, you can see that the entire park is still very large, so I decided to take a scenic battery car for a tour. One saves effort, two has explanations, this can be sent to the dock, and then drive into the Qingming Shanghe Garden by the Yangjia Lake.
Ps: Kaifeng is really a city with a rich cultural heritage. Every traditional festival, various cultural activities will be held in Longting, such as "Longtaitou", Dragon Boat Festival, Dasong Huachao Festival, Qingming Culture Festival, Chrysanthemum Culture Festival, etc., taste the essence of the ancient capital culture, experience the charm of Song culture, and feel the elegance of the Song people.
Kaifeng Longting
Kaifeng Longting
The imperial city of the Northern Song Dynasty, the imperial palace of the Six Dynasties
Thousand-year-old imperial capital, the imperial city of the Northern Song Dynasty, the imperial palace of the Six Dynasties, Kaifeng Longting.
Longting Park was built on the ruins of the imperial palace of the Six Dynasties, with the magnificent and majestic Longting Hall as the main building. It is composed of the Wumen, Yudai Bridge, Songhu, Chaomen, Zhaobi, Chaofang and other architectural groups of the Qing Dynasty Wanshou Palace, fully displaying the heroism of the northern royal gardens. The Longting, which has a history of more than 1,200 years, was once the place of the Xuanwu Army Jiedushi in the Tang Dynasty, and it was also the place where the palaces of the Later Liang, Later Jin, Later Han, Later Zhou, Northern Song and Jin Six Dynasties were located. Longting Park is surrounded by water on three sides, with beautiful scenery, both the thick atmosphere of the northern palace and the beautiful beauty of the southern gardens. Today, there are magnificent palace buildings in the scenic area, and the Panjia Lake and Yangjia Lake with rippling blue waves are on the left and right.
The magnificent Longting ancient architectural complex highly embodies the cultural connotation of the Six Dynasties imperial palace Longting. The grand and historical vicissitudes of the Six Dynasties imperial palace's brilliant chapter of ancient architectural complex is not only the glory of Longting, but also the historical witness of the ancient city of Kaifeng, and even more the crystallization of the wisdom of the Chinese working people.

Iron Tower Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Mar)
Take you around Kaifeng: Fan Tower, Iron Pagoda, Yanqing Temple
Kaifeng, although it is the ancient capital of eight dynasties, has been flooded by the Yellow River several times, and now there are only three real ancient objects on the ground:
Fan (po with the second tone) Tower. Fan Tower was built during the Northern Song Dynasty. The biggest highlight is that more than 7,000 Buddha bricks are inlaid inside and outside the tower body, one brick for one Buddha. Unlike the Iron Pagoda mentioned below, Fan Tower was not built by the government; these Buddha bricks were donated by the people at that time. The original Fan Tower had nine levels, but two were destroyed by lightning during the Yuan Dynasty, and four more were demolished during the early Ming Dynasty in the 'scrape away the royal qi' incident, leaving only three levels. A six-level small pagoda was added on top of the three-level platform in the early Qing Dynasty. The Fan Tower has survived lightning strikes⚡️, wars, and floods to this day, which is indeed fortunate.
Iron Pagoda. The Iron Pagoda was built during the Northern Song Dynasty and is known as 'the number one pagoda in the world.' The biggest highlight is that it is made of brown glazed bricks (not made of iron, but the color is very similar to cast iron). It is the tallest, oldest, and best-preserved glazed brick pagoda in China. This place was once the royal temple Kaibao Temple, hence it is also known as Kaibao Temple Pagoda. The patterns of apsaras, lions, dragons, and pagoda-guarding beasts on the glazed bricks are clearly visible. The Iron Pagoda does have an underground palace!
Yanqing Temple. Yanqing Temple was built during the Yuan Dynasty to commemorate the founder of the Quanzhen School, Wang Chongyang, who preached and died here. The biggest highlight is that the Jade Emperor Pavilion inside the temple was buried more than 3 meters underground (because Kaifeng city was flooded by the Yellow River several times), and after the founding of the People's Republic, it was lifted out of the ground. There is an introduction to the lifting process in the underground palace.
A few suggestions:
🅿️ Fan Tower has a small parking lot with about 20 parking spaces. Don't drive to the Iron Pagoda on holidays, as it is close to Wansui Mountain and the Old River Big Night Market, and sometimes entry is restricted🚫. It is also recommended to ride a shared electric bike to Yanqing Temple (actually, we walked there )
🔥 These three places are not very crowded, the Iron Pagoda has a relatively larger flow of people, but Fan Tower and Yanqing Temple are almost empty, allowing you to enjoy the tranquility.
🎫 For tickets, Fan Tower and Yanqing Temple are included in the Song Dynasty Imperial City pass, while the Iron Pagoda is free.
Opposite Yanqing Temple, there is an old Huang family shop, which is probably not the one you want to go to, Old Huang Ji .
The First Tower in the World - Kaifeng Iron Tower
The Iron Tower is located in the northeast corner of Kaifeng city, built in 1049 AD, and has always been known as the 'First Tower in the World'. The tower is 55.88 meters high, with 13 layers in octagonal shape, and is the tallest, oldest, and best-preserved glazed brick tower in China. It is also known as the 'Kaibao Temple Tower' because it was once the site of Kaibao Temple. It is also called the 'Iron Tower' because it is made of brown glazed bricks that look like iron. The overall shape of the tower is graceful and upright, with bright and shiny glazed components. The tower body gradually decreases from bottom to top, forming a natural division, showing the strong contour features of the Song Dynasty Buddhist pagoda. The tower body uses many structural bricks, with grooves and eyes between the bricks, which are tightly fitted together, and there are as many as 28 shapes of bricks. The outer wall is decorated with more than 50 patterns such as flying sky, descending dragon, kirin, and music. Since its completion, the Iron Tower has survived countless wars, floods, earthquakes and other disasters, and still stands tall, with high historical, architectural, and artistic value. In 1961, the Iron Tower was announced as a key national cultural relic protection unit by the State Council.
Kaifeng Iron Tower | A thousand-year-old glazed pagoda from the Northern Song Dynasty
The Iron Tower is not an iron tower, but a thousand-year-old glazed pagoda😘😘
The Iron Tower Park is one of the hundred famous gardens in China and a national AAAA level tourist attraction. The Iron Tower (National Treasure), was built in the first year of Huangyou of the Northern Song Dynasty (1049 AD), with a height of 55.88 meters, octagonal and thirteen floors. It is famous at home and abroad for its exquisite and wonderful architectural art and majestic and beautiful posture. It was one of the first batch of national key cultural relics announced by the State Council in 1961. Because its whole body is inlaid with brown glazed bricks, the color is similar to iron, so it is commonly known as the 'Iron Tower'. It is currently the tallest, oldest, and best-preserved glazed brick tower in China. The main attractions in the scenic area include: stone steles, bonsai garden, Linggan Court, Jieyin Hall, Iron Tower, Iron Tower Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall, He Gongxuan, Kaifeng Ancient City Wall, as well as Rose Garden, Shangfang Garden, Bamboo Garden, Iron Tower Lake, etc. The Iron Tower Scenic Area integrates cultural relics and garden art, showing its style and welcoming tourists from all directions.
In the scenic area, there are large-scale live performances such as 'Ten Directions Offering Treasures', large-scale song and dance drama 'Music Dance Buddha', and clapper performance.
The Iron Tower Scenic Area has invested a lot of money to create the night tour performance project Iron Tower Light and Shadow Show--'Iron Tower Legend', which is loved by the majority of tourists.
Travel tips😘😘😘😘
1. At present, the Iron Tower Park is free, open from 8:00 to 18:00, but the time is a bit confusing, I arrived at seven and a half, and the door is open😂
2. Kaifeng Iron Tower Park is one of the only two Northern Song Dynasty ancient buildings in Kaifeng. The older brother is the Fan Tower outside the city. I have made a guide for everyone before. The road is not easy to walk. The Iron Tower is 75 years younger than the Fan Tower and is the second oldest building in Kaifeng.
3. Kaifeng Iron Tower Park is next to Henan University. There is a gate of Henan University, which should be the north gate, facing the Iron Tower.
4. Many Kaifeng friends say that the Iron Tower can be climbed. Maybe I went early that day and didn't let me climb. However, walking around the tower, the wind blowing the bronze bell is very comfortable.
😘😘😘😘
The Kaifeng travel guide is about to reach its climax. The next issue is a large-scale guide to the Qingming Shanghe Garden, followed by Bao Gong Temple, Drum Tower, Shuanglong Alley, Daliang Gate, Henan University Night Market, Kaifeng Food Guide, etc. Strive to finish before New Year's Day, for reference to friends who go to Kaifeng on New Year's Day, those who are interested can follow in advance😘
Kaifeng Iron Tower|Glazed tile tower, standing for a thousand years
|Glazed tile tower, standing for a thousand years. Kaifeng Iron Tower|Glazed tile tower, standing for a thousand years.
The tower is a free attraction. It's written online that it's temporarily closed, but in reality, it's just that you can't go up the tower, the exterior is completely fine.
Experts speculate that the Iron Tower was completed during the reign of Emperor Shenzong of Song, it is a true relic. The Iron Tower is not made of iron, but of brown glazed tiles, looking like an iron pestle from afar. When it was built, the Iron Tower was called the Kaibao Temple Tower, and it was not until the Yuan Dynasty that people started calling it the Iron Tower. The tower is 55.88 meters high, with eight corners and thirteen floors. This tower looks really tall up close, and if you look closely, you'll find that its door hole is also very special, not round, but narrower at the top and wider at the bottom, with five bricks stacked on each side, making it more sturdy. Despite the changes of dynasties and the baptism of war, the Iron Tower still stands firm. In the evening, looking at the Iron Tower, the afterglow of the setting sun, the reflection of the tower in the lake, the atmosphere is full.
In the park, there are also Taihu stones from the Song Dynasty, as well as the works of horticultural masters at the Chrysanthemum Festival. The Iron Tower Park is really a surprising existence.

Chinese Han Garden Stele Forest| Kaifeng Little Jiangnan, amazing!!
|Kaifeng Little Jiangnan, amazing!! Chinese Han Garden Stele Forest| Kaifeng Little Jiangnan, amazing!!
The Han Garden Stele Forest is located in the Longting Lake Scenic Area of Kaifeng City, next to the Qingming Shanghe Garden. It integrates the landscape art of mountains and waters and the architectural art of classical gardens, and gathers the great achievements of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign poetry, calligraphy, painting, and stele art. Everyone!! Must go!!
Time: 08:00~18:00
I entered from the north gate, and the stele forest came into view. It was extremely spectacular. There are more than 3,800 pieces of calligraphy and painting steles. The stele corridor is six miles long. It is inlaid with the representative stele posts of calligraphy masters from all dynasties, which is very shocking.
The entire park covers an area of 120 acres. The southern part is a garden scenic area. There are pavilions, towers, rock mountains and waterfalls, which fully reflect Chinese architecture. The boat in the lake needs to be paid for (20), which is very photogenic. If you want to take pictures, remember to wear Hanfu or cheongsam. Every step is a scene, highly recommended.
The entire scenic area takes about an hour and a half to stroll around. If you take pictures, you need to calculate separately. There are also performances in the scenic area. You can watch the performance schedule. It's worth a visit
Things you must know before going to Kaifeng China Han Garden Stele Forest
Hi~ everyone, I am Senyu. Recently, many friends from other places have asked me, when visiting Kaifeng, besides going to Kaifeng Qingming Shanghe Garden, Kaifeng Mansion, and Daxiangguo Temple, are there any other recommended places to visit? To this question, as someone who has been to Kaifeng N times, China Han Garden Stele Forest is also a good place to visit~
•
In fact, many friends from other places have always mentioned Kaifeng, most of them know about Qingming Shanghe Garden, and few friends know about China Han Garden Stele Forest. To be honest, this scenic spot is also worth visiting, and the scenery and buildings inside are worth appreciating. The following travel guide took me a week to organize, remember to collect it
•
📌【6️⃣ things you must know before coming to China Han Garden Stele Forest】
❶Actually, many people have not heard of China Han Garden Stele Forest, which causes many friends to leave after visiting Qingming Shanghe Garden. China Han Garden Stele Forest is next to Qingming Shanghe Garden, friends with ample time must go and check in
❷The exits of China Han Garden Stele Forest are very easy to take a taxi, and the bus is also very convenient. However, if you travel, I suggest you take a taxi by Didi, the cost of a taxi is rounded up, I personally don't like this, I only heard about this in Kaifeng
❸For accommodation, I suggest choosing to stay next to Qingming Shanghe Garden, which is closer to China Han Garden Stele Forest, Wansui Mountain Dazhong Wuxia City, City Wall Scenic Area, and Kaifeng Mansion
❹It is recommended to visit China Han Garden Stele Forest for 2-3 hours. If you have plenty of time, you can take a boat ride, and you will feel extremely comfortable when you row
❺The single ticket for China Han Garden Stele Forest is not cost-effective, it is recommended to buy a 60 yuan joint ticket or directly apply for a tourist annual card, which is also 60 yuan, and you can visit for 13 months, which is super cost-effective
❻In the afternoon of a sunny day in Han Garden Stele Forest, there will be a sunset, which is super atmospheric, and it is also very photogenic. Friends who like photography can go ahead and find a position, highly recommended

|Hanyuan Stele Forest Art Temple Fair. Must-visit in Kaifeng | Hanyuan Stele Forest Art Temple Fair
The Art Temple Fair at Hanyuan Stele Forest left me and my friends in awe, it's really a great place to visit!
