Gomantong Caves

Gomantong Cave is located in the rainforest reserve of Gomantong Mountain in Sabah. It is staggered and it is very empty. However, for the convenience of tourists, a boardwalk about 90 meters high is built in the cave to collect bird’s nests and Visitors can watch the professional bird's nest collection process from February to August every year. There is no place for entertainment, pure viewing.

I also went there in August last year. It was the first time I saw bird's nest picking on site. It was indeed a very dangerous job. Inside the cave are swallow excrement, which smells very strong and the ground is slippery. Moreover, there are swarms of cockroaches everywhere, and there are poisonous snakes waiting to eat the little swallows on the trees outside the cave...hehe, but the scenery is still very special , Well worth a visit.

Introduction to Gomantong Caves: Gomantong Caves, located in the heart of the Gomantong Rainforest Reserve, is made up of two caves interlaced. It is called the world's top edible bird's nest distribution center by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). A 90-meter-high boardwalk was built in the cave. From February to August every year, you can see the scene of professional bird's nest collectors picking bird's nest.

It took about half an hour to drive from Sukorabi Pier to Gomandong Cave. We were lucky enough to catch the bird’s nest picking. The staff were working at heights. It was not easy. No wonder the bird’s nest was expensive. This is one of the 19 caves in Southeast Asia that is open to visit. Thousands of swallows and bats flying around this scene is really drunk.
