Photos of Fortifications of Kotor

The Kotor Fortress, built on the hills east of the old town of Kotor, is one of the more well-known attractions in Montenegro and one of the only two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Montenegro. The fortress was part of the military defense of the city during the Middle Ages and was originally built in the 6th century. The fortress climbs from the ancient city to the fortress on the top of the mountain. It takes about 1 hour to climb to the top of the mountain from the ancient city.
