Photos of Fort Margherita

Margaret Castle is located by the Kuching River, also known as the museum. It was built in 1879 and is a typical small British castle. The castle is a very prominent symbol of the Sarawak River, witnessing the history of the Bullock Dynasty in Sarawak. The castle, named after Charles Brooke's wife, Rani Margaery, was not used until World War II, when the Japanese tried to blow it up, but it was unsuccessful, and it has survived to this day.
