About Kunming

Throughout the seasons of the year, Kunming is like springtime, leading it to be called "Spring City". For many people who come to Yunnan on holiday, it is their first stop. The nearby Dianchi Lake has 250 kilometers of coastline, all with brilliant natural scenery. There are super-large fresh flower markets. There are also cultural attractions, such as Yunnan University, Yunnan Military Academy, and the former site of Southwest United University. Trying out Kunming snacks, local Yunnan cuisine and wild mushroom hotpot is a must. Every year when winter comes, flocks of black-headed gulls fly here from Siberia; Cuihu Park and Dianchi Lake are good places for bird-watching and bird feeding. The area surrounding Kunming is also very exciting. Dongchuan Red Land is colorful like an oil painting. The Stone Forest has all kinds of different and interestingly shaped rocks. Guandu Ancient Town is also a good place to visit.

The ethnic village of Kunming can be described as a major tourist destination in the country. It takes only about ten minutes to walk from the ethnic village. It feels great. It is a gathering of the villages of 26 ethnic minorities in Yunnan.  Different styles of villages are scattered and distributed, and the unique geographical advantages of Kunming in spring city form a multi-ethnic small world with water and land, fresh and elegant. Along the way, there are green trails, the pavilions, the stone steps of the arch bridge, and the scenery is very pleasant.

Dianchi Lake, also known as Kunming Lake, is the largest freshwater lake in Yunnan and the sixth largest freshwater lake in China. Located at the foot of Xishan Mountain, Dianchi Lake is distributed in a north-south direction, just like a crescent moon, embedded in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.  Two hundred million years ago, Dianchi Lake and its neighbouring areas rose from the bottom of the sea for the last time and gradually rose to the plateau. After the influence of the Himalayan orogeny, the ancient Dianchi was born. It was deep and wide and won the plateau pearl's reputation.  Ping Xiang sing warm Pan Yunjin fishing songs along the waterfront. The weather is often like February and March, and the flowering branches continue to bloom. Outside the hills and the Qingshan Building, the white clouds are going around, it seems that it is not wandering in the sky, but floating above the Bohai Sea, the lakes and mountains.

Cuihu Park is one of the most beautiful parks in downtown Kunming. It used to be a lake in Dianchi Lake, and later became a clear lake due to the drop in the water level. Every winter, a large number of red-billed gulls fly here to spend the winter. I had received a red-billed gull from a college roommate in the winter. It was very cute. We didn’t get to see the cute red-billed gull. Cuihu Park is not big, it can be toured for an hour or so. No tickets, free entry and exit, direct bus from the train station. It takes only ten minutes to walk from Cuihu Park and follow the navigation to Yunnan University.
