Gulf of Finland

The Gulf of Finland is slender in shape and covers an area of about 30,000 square kilometers. It is about 400 kilometers long from the east to the west, with an average water depth of 40 meters, 70 kilometers wide at the entrance and 130 kilometers wide at the center. 19 kilometers to the north and 128 kilometers to the south. The north shore is steep, winding and multi-island; the east and south shores are low and flat.

It is the large bay in the eastern Baltic Sea, between Finland, Estonia and Russia. The sea has low salt content and a freezing period of3-5 months. Salinity 3‰-6‰, and the depth and salinity gradually increase from east to west.
