Cataract Gorge Reserve Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Beautiful Nature Reserve in Launceston
We had half a day to fill in Launceston before our flight home and stumbled upon this peaceful and scenic nature reserve by chance.
Tucked away behind a residential area you wouldn't think of finding such an open area like this but it is well worth the trip if you are in Launceston. There are a couple of easy walking tracks and a couple for more ambitious walkers as well as a fun gondola and cafe for those who like to take it easy. We started our visit in the cafe and ended there as well because the food was so delicious.

Cataract Gorge, Launceston
Great trip to Cataract Gorge. Took the chairlift which travels at appropriate speed, allowing you to take in the views around you and below. Be sure to wear covered shoes since your legs will be dangling in the air. We took the chair for both ways as we are travelling with seniors and it's very very very cold. You can also buy 1 way and then walk to the other side or walk back from the other side. It should be a very scenic walk and I would suggest that you buy 1 way and walk the other leg if you can. Since its winter now, be prepared to wear thick clothings or layer yourself up. A good day trip if you are visiting Launceston. #wintertime #cataractgorge #launceston #tasmania
Cataract Gorge follow by drive to Bicheno.
Wonderful Time at Cataract Gorge, Launceston. The chairlift travels at an appropriate pace, allowing you to take in the scenery below and around you. Then off to Campbell Town for pit stop cum lunch. Continue our journey to Bicheno where we will stay over for a night. As it is winter now, sun sets around 4.4xpm. Took pics of sunset, crescent appearing in the sky and after sun has set. Rested a while and we went for lobster at Lobster Shack Tasmania. The lobster meat is firm, chunky and fresh. Size is big too. Also had chilled prawns and seafood platter. All are nice. #wintergetaway #tasmania #cataractgorge #seafood #bicheno
Launceston's Best Park.
🏨 Cataract Gorge Reserve
🚩H43C+92 West Launceston, Tasmania, Australia
✔️ It was a park that I hesitated a lot about whether to visit because it's hard to get to without a rental car, but in the end, I think it was the best choice among all the places I visited in Launceston. There are peacocks wandering around the park, and even just taking a short walk around, it's the best place where you can feel various atmospheres.

The Sebel hotel was like a refreshing rain during the long journey in Tasmania. It's more like a residence than a hotel. The rooms are unbelievably spacious, which was great, and the best part was having a washing machine, making it convenient for laundry during a long trip. Located in downtown Launceston, it's also a great hotel to explore the city on foot.
