Chamonix, France is a resort area near Switzerland and Italy. It sits at the base of the highest summit in the Alps, Mount Blanc. When we finally made it to the top of the mountain, we were greeted with snow and fog. On a clear day, you would normally see massive peaks and breathtaking views of the town below. Getting there is pretty easy as it is located in downtown and all drivers know where is located or you can stay in nearby hotels. The recommended sightseen time is between one to two hours. Lake’s water has a beautiful light green shade, you might think the pics are photoshopped but this is the real color. Boats are available for rent. If you travel with friends or a family trip with kids then a medium size boat could be a great option to enjoy the lake and keep the kids busy. Located on the road from Rome to Reims, it has been a transportation hub since ancient times. The beautiful city of Metz is a gem of France. It is only a few hours away from Paris by high-speed TGV train and is close to other European countries such as Germany, Luxembourg, and Belgium. Although it is a city worth visiting all year round, many attractions are indoors, making it suitable for sightseeing even in cold weather. Annecy (Figure 3) If you travel to France in winter, there is a must-visit place, which is Annecy. Located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France, it is only about 42 kilometers away from Geneva, Switzerland. This destination is full of exciting activities all year round, but winter is the charming season for sightseeing. Surrounded by the French Alps, there are many ski resorts nearby for skiing holidays, including Semnoz ski resort, La Clusaz ski resort, and even Chamonix is not far away. Especially with the dreamy canals and iconic Lake Annecy, the other side of the lake is towering into the clouds. When you stroll along the old town to the lake, there is a thin layer of snow on the ground, which is really great. Mangtong (Figure 4) Those who want to spend winter in France without wearing a parka will love Menton. Menton, with its sunny weather, is located near northern Italy and has the most Mediterranean climate in the French Riviera. Bordeaux Bordeaux is a complete juxtaposition, managing to combine over 350 historical landmarks (second only to Paris in France) with modern design - some newer buildings and museums are stunning. Nice Nice is an excellent destination for French winter holidays. The capital of the French Riviera is a warm and sunny destination in the south of the country, with tourists all year round. Nice is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, with mild winters, and it's not too cold to stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and enjoy an ice cream. February is the Carnival of Nice, with beautiful parades in town. The nearby town of Menton also has a famous Lemon Festival (easy to reach from Nice for a day trip). The only way to get to the island is by walking on a pedestrian bridge, which takes about 40 minutes. It is, along with Senja, one of the most beautiful and worthwhile places to visit in Norway in my opinion! Who wouldn't yearn for those isolated colorful little houses🏠? Lofoten is just that, solitary and peaceful, with beautiful and gentle lakes and mountains. How should you play in Lofoten? I recommend renting a car🚖 to have the most fun touring the entire island! 📸 About the attractions ❶ Hamnoy Google Maps location 'Fotospot Hamnoy', the cover of Lonely Planet, better wide-angle shooting effect on the east side of the bridge. ❷ Olenilsoya kystfort Location 'Roastad Retro Rorbuer', a few red houses, walk up the mountain trail next to the houses for a better view, especially when the lights of the fishing village are on in the evening. ❸ Å town The end of the Lofoten Islands, the town with the shortest name in the world, with distant mountains looming, giving a sense of extremity. ❹ Skagsanden beach The desolate beach along the E10 highway. ❺ Yellow House Location 'Anita’s Sjomat', the popular yellow house is right next to it, nothing special about the house itself, but the surrounding scenery is not bad, worth a walk. ❻ XHenningsvaer Stadium The football field is at the end of Henningsvaer, with nice scenery along the way, a romantic journey. 🚘 Route suggestion: Lofoten + Senja Island + Tromsø 🌈 Travel Tips It is suggested to visit these places together, each with its own charm, no need to worry about aesthetic fatigue😻 Tromsø needs no introduction, stroll through the colorful streets of houses🏠, the design-savvy Arctic Cathedral, take the cable car🚠 to overlook the fjord, both the live view and the photo angles are good Senja Island, which is on the way from Tromsø to Lofoten, is a perfect stopover. As a child born in the south, the world of ice and snow has always been a place I longed for, but I also maintain a sense of awe and distance from it, knowing full well that I cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. That's why I have visited so many countries, with destinations mostly in the southern parts of the earth or in Europe that are not too cold. However, when I thought about the rare opportunity to come to the Netherlands, it seemed a shame not to visit Norway, so I decided not to give up this opportunity that was right in front of me. 🚶🏻‍♂️Departing after New Year's Day, Norway is currently experiencing polar night, with less than five hours of daylight. If it snows or rains, it may be gloomy all day long. Be mentally prepared, because after 3 pm, the whole earth falls into darkness. Also, this period is not the peak tourist season on the island, and many indigenous people will leave. Therefore, once it gets dark, you may not see many people even if you drive for a long time. 🚗When coming to the Lofoten Islands, be sure to rent a car for self-driving. Especially in this season, there is almost no public transportation, and driving is the most convenient option. Also, be sure to choose a four-wheel drive car, equipped with snow tires, and get full insurance, which is related to life safety. I rented a car at Evenes airport, which is relatively close to the Lofoten Islands. I also have friends who rented a car from Tromsø and drove all the way, which can be more tiring. 📍My trip in Lofoten lasts for five nights and six days, which is relatively tight. I will stay in three popular destinations on the islands: Andøya, Henningsvær, and Reine, and then explore from these three points. Among the three places, my favorite is still Henningsvær, which has a iconic football field at the end of the world, snow-capped mountains, and a larger city half an hour's drive away where I can buy materials and find enough restaurants. 🦪During the winter season, many restaurants in Rovaniemi are closed due to the off-season for travel. In addition, the cost of traveling in northern Europe is already higher than in the south, and even ordinary restaurants have an average cost of around 200-300 RMB per person. Therefore, buying relatively cheap raw materials in supermarkets and cooking for oneself is a more worry-free and cost-effective way. 📸As long as it's a good day, the Isle of Rafton is really photogenic, with an extreme purity and coolness that will make you unable to stop your camera. Many times, you can take very beautiful photos with just your phone. My camera model is Canon R5, and I basically used the 24-105 lens throughout the journey.
