Leshan Giant Buddha Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Leshan + GIANT BUDDHA + 71 meters tall!
Wonderful experience in Sichuan. You can take the high-speed train or drive to the location from Chengdu. Be sure to not go on a holiday! There are two parts of the park. The Giant Buddha and the Oriental Buddha Park, and you need to purchase tickets for each. It’s worth going to the 2nd park to see the Pharmacist Buddha, 10,000 Buddhas Cave, and the Lying Down Buddha! Be ready for some stairs, some long lines, and sunshine on days with good weather. I heard the boat tour also has a wonderful view!#LeshanGiantBuddha #Leshan #Sichuan #giantbuddha #awesomepic
Turning up the heat in Chengdu!🔥🔥🌶️🌶️
#yearofrabbit
City 2/3 in our #lunarnewyear travels was Chengdu! 🐼🌶️🎭
Chengdu has many local trademarks, which makes it a great city for exploration! When in Chengdu, every tourist should make time to:
1. See the pandas! 🐼🎋
2. Watch a face-changing performance at a tea house🍵🎭
3. Try Sichuan’s spicy cuisine, more specifically, hotpot!!! 🥘🌶️🔥
Our mouths were burning from the spicy flavors (you can see a photo of how RED the broth is from all of the peppers and spicy oil!) we had to buy several cups of milk tea 🧋 to get us through the meal. 😅
Face changing shows are a big part of local culture, and so entertaining! It’s kind of like a kung-fu meets magic show, where the performer will change his opera mask in the literal blink of an eye! 🪄🦹🏻🔮🎭
The panda park was also super interesting and educational. It was really cool to learn about how they are protecting this endangered species. 🐼
Last (but not least!!) the Leshan Big Buddha. Built over 1200 years ago, this magnificent sculpture hand crafted by dedicated Buddhist monks was breathtaking to say the least. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, man-made marvel, and something you should definitely put on your bucket list!!
If you get the chance to go to Chengdu, GO!! 😆 We loved this city, and definitely plan to return.❤️

BE ABROADABLE - Nat the Expat Giant Buddha | must see!!
Pictures speak louder than words ✌️
Getting There - train from Chengdu (1.5h), day trip
Attractions - Giant Buddha, scenery around the river
Food & Restaurants - local options all around
Sketching Leshan Buddha
Best option is to get a hotel nearby if it's not a daily trip. We had lucky to be in one small hotel with personal valley service. Parking is convenient and cheap on spot. Go in the afternoon just before sunset. Once you buy tickets, pass gate and 20-30mins of climbing. During summer with hot weather and humidity isn't so fun. Cicadas doesn't make it any easier. Also, some of places inside were closed like Cave-Thomb-Museum and food vendors. Carving this amazing statue is really mesmerizing. Plenty of time to do some selfies. Make sure you bring water and snacks. Left side was closed, but looked interesting with some small openings in rocks. Have fun.

Winter wonderlands worth visiting
1. Jiuzhaigou
Jiuzhaigou is known for its unique high mountain landscape, colorful lakes, waterfalls, and forests, and is hailed as a 'heaven on earth'. In autumn and winter, Jiuzhaigou is colorful, with waterfalls, lakes, and red leaves complementing each other, making it a sight to behold.
Jiuzhaigou is also an ecological treasure trove, with a wealth of wild animal and plant resources. Such as golden monkeys, snow leopards, and a variety of plants are hidden deep in the mountains. As a settlement of Tibetans and Qiang people, they have retained a rich traditional culture and customs.
2. Kanas
Spectacular snow mountains, blue lakes, golden grasslands, and rich animal and plant resources. Autumn and winter in Kanas, from colorful forests to a fairy tale world carved by ice and snow. It changes into infinite beauty throughout the four seasons.
Winter is long and cold, and winter in Kanas is covered with ice and snow. The scattered log cabins, the silver birch forest, the flowing meltwater, the rime hanging between the branches of the trees, constitute the god's self-retained land Hemu. The ancient Tuvan people guard their Baihaba.
3. Wangmangling
'If you don't climb Wangmangling, you won't know the Taihang Mountains, the world's strange peaks gather, why climb the Five Mountains'. Winter in Wangmangling is like a fairyland, with winter snow, rime, sea of clouds, sunrise, like a fairy tale winter in Wangmangling, beautiful and romantic. The mountains are full of pine trees, willow trees, and grasses are covered with rime and icicles, even the railings, pavilions, and stones are covered with a layer of ice flowers, there is a chill in the breath, and the eyes are like glass.
4. Emei Mountain
Winter in Emei Mountain is the most spiritual season of the year, like a dream. The soft snow scene and the misty hot springs at the foot of the mountain complement each other, making people yearn for it. The temples on the high mountains also add a bit of Zen, 'Clouds surround half of the mountain with snow, and flowers spit out a stream of smoke', which refers to Emei Mountain after the snow.
The Golden Summit has always been regarded as a heaven on earth by everyone. Looking up at the Golden Buddha, overlooking the sea of clouds, winter in Emei is the best time to watch, sunrise often accompanies the sea of clouds, and Buddha's light always likes to appear inadvertently.
5. Huangshan
Winter in Huangshan is the most beautiful and romantic season of the year. The strange pines and strange stones are dressed in silver, and they enter the world of ice and snow overnight, as the saying goes, 'Huangshan has beautiful scenery in all four seasons, but the winter scenery is even better'.
Rime, sea of clouds, snow scene, the clouds in the mountains under the 'favor' of winter, the water vapor condenses and adheres to everything on the top of the mountain, the mountains, strange stones are all in a daze, the white jade clothes are shining, and the eyes of the tourists are all ice flowers. World.
6. Yichun Kuerbin Rime
In addition to Jilin, Heilongjiang's Yichun also has rime. The rime in the Yichun Kuerbin Rime Scenic Area, when the sun shines through the morning mist into the forest, the ice and snow on the tree will emit a crystal light, a unique world, and it feels worth the hardship of coming. If you visit in the early morning, the mist is lingering, watching the best time for the rime to form, like a string of treasures hanging on the tree trunk
7. Gannan
Like Tibet, winter in Gannan belongs to him and all believers. Snow in Gannan, thousands of mountains and white snow, monks in red. The once brilliant grassland is dressed in silver, and the Yellow River, Tao River, Daxia River, and Bailong River are jade trees and jasper carvings at this time. After the snow in Gannan, it is quiet but not lacking in warmth,
Golden Temple - Nestled above the clouds!
⛩️🏯Nestled atop a mist-covered mountain, the Golden Temple is a divine marvel that captivates the soul. On a rainy day, its ethereal beauty emerges through the veil of clouds, with temples appearing and disappearing like apparitions.
🏔️ To reach this celestial sanctuary, a one and a half hour bus ride from Baoguo temple transports you to Leidongping, followed by an invigorating hour and a half uphill walk or a convenient cable car ascent. Opting for the walk, I relished every step, surrounded by serenity and tranquility. As I ascended, the air grew colder, demanding preparation for the summit.
🌄 The Golden Temple itself, adorned in resplendent gold, exudes a breathtaking radiance that beholds the beholder. For the intrepid, staying in one of the mini monasteries adds an adventurous touch. Alternatively, the top houses a selection of hotels, allowing the fortunate to witness awe-inspiring sunsets and sunrises. This sacred mountain attracts devotees and pilgrims from across China, seeking spiritual solace. Should you desire to offer incense or candles, I recommend procuring them in the town, as temple prices are steep.

Sunrise at Emei Mountain Top
Mount Emei is a over 3000m on its highest point and is the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. Mount Emei is located at the western rim of the Sichuan Basin, close to the city of Leshan.
We went there during the night and arrived on the top in the early morning. 🌄 The way up is long, but not too hard. There are stone stairs almost everywhere, so you don't have to climb. 🥾
📍There is a high speed train connection from Chengdu and Leshan. In about one hours you can get there from Chengdu. Some slow trains also stop there.
🎟️ Tickets are 160 RMB per person, there is a discount for students and sometimes for people from Sichuan

Golden Peak Temple Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The sea of clouds is one of the four wonders of the Golden Summit, as well as sunrise, Buddha light and holy lights. Telling the truth, I have seen Emeishan so many times. I have only seen the sea of clouds and the sunrise. The Buddha light and the holy light have not been seen yet. Almost every time I can see the sea of clouds, maybe this is a kind of fate.
No matter how many times I have seen the sea of clouds here, I still feel so beautiful. The feeling of watching the sea on the mountain is spectacular.
The golden domes of various angles, the level of the sea of clouds is not very clear at noon, and the afternoon is getting more and more beautiful. I also circle around the golden dome, and every time I come around, I will surround the golden dome. In the circle, I have to look at the beauty of the golden dome.
Documenting my journey to Western Sichuan
Finally, I started writing a travelogue, a beautiful place worth a long time of settling. Since coming to Chengdu to study, I have always heard people around me talk about the beauty of Western Sichuan, and I finally had the chance to go and see for myself. We set off happily with friends, and as the sky gradually cleared, we escaped the hustle and bustle of the city and merged into the tranquility of nature, perhaps this is also a kind of happiness.
Above the plateau, I found that the clouds had already obscured the mountains, and the singing of Xiaxia occasionally reached my ears. We drove slowly into it, and the road and vehicles became blurred in the fog. After carefully reaching Zheduo Mountain, I found that, just like this huge mountain, the terrible altitude sickness was also difficult to conquer.
Perhaps it is the punishment of the nature gods for us city dwellers, every step feels as if there are heavy shackles on the feet, and the head is like wearing a jack, breathing rapidly, needing to rest every three steps. The road up the mountain is very dangerous, but above the clouds is another beautiful scene. After the test of the nature gods, we became qualified to appreciate the beauty, and for the first time, I saw the Western Sichuan that my friends talked about.
The breeze brushed my face, the green romance undulated, and the white snow mountains were hidden in the clouds, with the golden peaks shimmering. The scenery in my eyes at this moment cannot be described as beautiful, it is full of freedom, sanctity, and longing. The breeze blew gently, the grass swayed, and the cattle and sheep walked leisurely, and my heart gradually melted. In the city, there are high-rise buildings everywhere, they are very pitiful, they can never witness such magnificent scenery. And we have already blended into this world, the snow mountains peek out from the top of the clouds, watching us city visitors from afar, and we also tiptoe, watching this mysterious plateau land from a distance. It stands quietly there, supporting this piece of peace and beauty.
The Tibetan people of Western Sichuan are very enthusiastic, they firmly believe in some kind of faith, their eyes are passionate, exuding a sense of freedom. They live in harmony with the nature gods, jointly guarding their Shangri-La.
In a hurry, the sanctity of Western Sichuan is forever engraved in my heart. This is the only time I don't want to return to the city, longing to stay there forever.
We will definitely meet again, definitely will.

Unique Mount EMEI Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Mount Emei-The Sacred Buddhist Mountain
Mount Emei, considering the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountain of China, is a 3,099m-tall mountain in Sichuan Province. Under the cold chilling weather, even a bowl of instant noodle and a packet of 3-in-1 hot coffee would be very tasty especially after a short distance of walking and climbing up the steeps and the stairs.
**Warm reminder to all, the peak of Mount Emei is a No-Drone-Zone.So, ignoring this so fly at your own risk 😂.

Many people don't know! There is also a neglected treasure in Mount Emei!
The wave of cultural tourism fever set off by the Internet has really made me discover many treasure places!
I believe that no one in Sichuan does not know about Mount Emei, but many people really don't know that there is a drama fantasy city on Mount Emei - only Mount Emei!
🚅
Then my best friend and I came on a trip that we said we would go
Take the high-speed rail 🚅 from Chengdu to Mount Emei Station, swept a circle in the city, replenished energy, and then took a taxi to the drama fantasy city of 'Only Mount Emei'
⏰The performance is from 17:30 to 21:00
👄Because we will follow the actors all the way, we are still quite tired after the end, it is recommended to bring some snacks, and you can replenish your physical strength after the end
❤️
The first time I watched such a close-up large-scale performance, it felt very novel, and the audience's experience was very strong!
And each act has some values output, most of which I agree with!
For example, in the second scene, it expresses the 'happiness of being needed'
Modern people are more often emphasizing what I need, asking for more, but when others express that we are 'needed', the feeling of being recognized by others is really wonderful, and the sense of happiness is very strong!
🍸
The third scene 'The Disappearing Hometown' really made me a little sad! Because I think I am a person without a hometown! For some reasons of the original family, I have no sense of security and belonging!
Especially now that the Spring Festival is approaching, many people will go back to their hometown for the New Year and so on, but I would rather work or travel alone! This year there is one more choice, you can come here to participate in the New Year Folk Garden Joy Meeting (2.11-2.16, that is, the second day of the New Year to the seventh day)
🖥️
The fifth scene, the most impressive thing for me is the conversation between father and son. The two generations have different views on the job of carrying a load, which has caused some disagreements and disputes. But when the father said: 'We are all carriers, just carrying different things.' Not only was the son convinced, but the audience was applauding!
In fact, we are all moving forward under heavy loads, but the weight of the burden is different, and the way forward is also different. Some people are barefoot, some ride horses, some drive cars, and some take rockets......
But we do our best, focus on the road under our feet, and shoulder our own responsibilities!
✍🏻
If it weren't for this Internet cultural tourism war, I would really have a hard time discovering the 'Only Mount Emei' drama fantasy city that is so close to me!
Before I came, I never thought that after watching a play, I would have so many feelings and write down so many text records
Only in Mount Emei | A dreamlike drama journey through Mount Emei
If I give you a ticket
Would you like to travel through time? ☁️
Then follow my footsteps to Mount Emei to experience the drama journey 🚄
First, travel back to the 1980s 🚲 'Under the Clouds' shows the real-life village of Mount Emei, where you can experience the park activities! Here, you can see a lot of fun old things from the 80s and 90s, as if you have traveled back to your childhood and picked up the memories of time, it's really fun!
I highly recommend bringing your parents and family here to play
I believe they will also be full of emotions~
Next is the highlight of tonight's 'Only Mount Emei'
It is divided into three theaters 👋🏻 'Above the Clouds' situational experience theater, 'In the Clouds' garden landscape theater, each play can touch people's hearts 👋🏻
The opening is very shocking 🫨 The switch between far and near scenes is very delicate
It makes people participate in it~Then participate in the real scene, I also became a small supporting role, feeling that every frame is very exquisite, every little story can reflect a lot of life philosophy 🤌🏻
Many moments made me tearful 🥹
The dialogue between the suicidal girl and the old lady that touched me a lot, I benefited a lot from it, slowly finding redemption~
It made me start to think about life
And finally, the random blessing note really fits my current mood~
This is a feast for the eyes and the soul
The theater is composed of six different performance spaces
Each space shows a different scene and theme
And the long-standing humanistic trivia
Let you further understand the history of Mount Emei
It's definitely worth a visit 🤟🏻

Mount Emei Travel | I finally saw
🌟The most anticipated part of the trip to Mount Emei is to watch .
I have seen some dramas before, but this progressive viewing mode is very novel~ It breaks my understanding of the traditional drama viewing method, and the freshness is 💯
🌟Arrived at the Only Mount Emei Theater at more than 3 pm, and visited the Garden Fair at more than 4 pm. The real scene was built, and it took you back to your childhood in a second.
Rolling iron balls, skipping ropes, ring games, "neighbor's" small shops
All are full of memories
The New Year is approaching, and there are some New Year garden activities, lively and festive
🌟Watch Above the Clouds at 7:30 pm
Sea of clouds, world, life, ideals, hometown
Different scenes tell different stories
The only thing in common is that they can all trigger our different feelings
It's drama, and it's also a dialogue with life
The audience walks and watches, and if they are not careful, they seem to be in the play
Different topics, many moments can bring applause from the audience
For me, the most touching is the scene of the husband's back
For thousands of years, there has been a husband carrying Mount Emei
On the other hand
Maybe we are all carrying husbands, just carrying different things
We now
What we carry is life, and it is the daily necessities of life
🌟If you have the chance to travel to Mount Emei, remember not to miss ❌ is worth seeing.

Luocheng Ancient Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A severely underrated hidden gem in Sichuan, the vanished Noah's Ark!
This ancient town with hundreds of years of history has very distinctive architecture. Viewed from above, it resembles a large ship perched atop a mountain, earning it the nickname 'China's Noah's Ark'.
✅ Rich in history
✅ Few tourists
📍 Location
For those driving, navigate to 'Luo City Ancient Town'
For those without a car, head to the Leshan Coach Station and take a bus to Luo City, costing 16 yuan per person for a one-way trip. The last bus back is at 17:30
📍
🚄 1h from Chengdu by train🚉 to Qianwei Station, then a 15min taxi ride↔️
🚗 Direct access by car navigation, parking available at the ancient town🅿️
The town is not commercialized, and the locals can be seen leisurely chatting and drinking tea.
It still retains the architectural style of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Because the main street resembles a ship, it is known as the 'hidden Noah's Ark'.
📷 The main photo spots in the ancient town are along the boat-shaped street.
Tea by the street, 'One Line Sky', ancient opera stage, and views from the rooftops of old houses...📷
The old street is full of life, with culture and architecture that make for great photos at every turn!!
Tea houses and restaurants on the street are bustling, and they fill up quickly when it's mealtime.
If you want to avoid the crowds, you can also take a walk by the river.
It's quiet with fewer people, but it has a serene charm...
The ancient town is not very large; a complete tour takes about half an hour, and you can sit down for some tea.
It's close to Leshan, so you can easily combine visits!!
If you've been cooped up in tall buildings for too long, come stroll through the old street with its lively atmosphere...
⏰ Visiting Tips
If you want to take high-angle shots, you can go to the main street in the middle. Some shop owners may charge around 10 yuan, and then you can go to their balcony to take photos as you please, but be careful and mind your safety⚠️
The streets and alleys gather to form the fireworks, and when spread out, they become the world of people
📍Detailed address: Luocheng Ancient Town, Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province Luocheng Ancient Town
🚉Transportation strategy:
A 1.5h drive from downtown Chengdu
No admission fee
There is a tourist center parking lot outside the ancient town, which makes parking convenient
In the southern part of Sichuan, there is such an ancient town. Although it is not well-known, the teahouses, ancient opera stages, and old-style buildings on the streets fill this small town with a strong sense of life.
The ancient town was founded during the late Ming Dynasty in the Chongzhen era and has undergone hundreds of years of changes. It still retains its original atmosphere of life. There are no crowded skyscrapers or busy commercial districts here. Old streets are lined with teahouses, where people sit leisurely on both sides of the 'boat-shaped street' on weekdays, chatting and discussing the past of the ancient town. The restaurants here are also very popular. During major festivals, when there are too many people to sit inside, 'Ba Ba Feast' will be set up on the street. The most characteristic feature of the ancient town is the 'boat-shaped street', which is long from east to west and short from north to south, shaped like a shuttle. The street is like the bottom of a boat, the buildings on both sides are like the sides of a boat, the ancient opera building is like the cabin, and the Lingguan Temple is like the stern. Officials from UNESCO have called it 'China's Noah's Ark'.
On both sides of the 'boat-shaped street' are long rows of old tile-roofed houses with wooden structures.
If you have time, you can also visit Tieshan, where there are Guanyin Pavilion and Daxiong Hall, which are said to be the elder sister of Mount Emei.
Near the ancient opera stage, there is a snack street with delicious foods such as spicy wontons, Shaozi noodles, and tofu pudding. Each bowl costs between 5-9 yuan and is very tasty.
I recommend a snack bar called 'Sanmei Snacks'. Their noodles and wontons are very authentic~ (just about 50 meters ahead of the opera stage)
There are also other snacks like ka bing, wolf tooth potatoes, and candied haws.
Tip: Don't go to the tofu pudding shop for noodles and wontons. If you want authentic noodles and wontons, go to a noodle shop or snack bar!
There are also many teahouses on 'boat-shaped street',
where you can calm down, have a cup of tea, and feel the charm of the ancient town.
In the mornings around the Spring Festival, there are intangible cultural heritage performances on the opera stage, which have a festive atmosphere!

In the embrace of Chengdu, there is a hidden ancient town that has not been invaded by commercial atmosphere. It is like a living novel of the market, full of the smoke of the world. Sichuan is famous for its numerous ancient towns, but Luocheng Ancient Town stands out with its uncarved original appearance.
Historical Background:
Luocheng Ancient Town, since the first year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1628), has quietly sat in the corner of history, witnessing 400 years of wind, frost, rain and snow, still retaining the original charm of Bashu culture during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. As one of the top ten ancient towns in Sichuan, its main street layout is like a huge ship, known as the 'Noah's Ark of China'.
Attractions Features:
The 'Ship-shaped Street' here extends from east to west, with the bow pointing to the east, facing Lingguan Temple, and the 'ship cabin' in the middle is a towering theater, where there will be opera performances during festivals. Strolling in the ancient town, you can enjoy the local famous mutton soup and handmade large tangyuan under the tile roof, and spend a satisfying lunch time. In the afternoon, on the 'ship deck', basking in the warm sun, tasting a bowl of covered-bowl tea, or imitating the local old people to play the long card '247', feel the slow life rhythm here.
In Luocheng Ancient Town, every corner is full of tranquility and satisfaction, as if time has slowed down here.

📷Recommended Photography Locations:
- Skyline: Located in the rear cabin of the ship-shaped street, the eaves on both sides extend outward, forming a long and narrow skyline, which is a good place for shooting.
- Theater Archway: In the middle of the ship cabin, there are lion dance performances in the morning, which is an excellent place to capture the humanistic atmosphere.
- Lingguan Tower: The arched gate on the first floor and the windows on the second floor are all excellent photo locations, especially during the time of incense.
- High-level viewing platform: The highest building on the ship-shaped street, you can overlook the entire ancient town from a high place.
Notes:
①Luocheng Ancient Town is located in Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, 70 kilometers away from Leshan City, about 50 minutes by car, 160 kilometers away from Chengdu City, about 2 hours by car. You can also choose to take the high-speed rail to Qianwei Station, and then take a taxi 15 kilometers to the ancient town, which takes about 25 minutes. The ancient town tickets are free, parking is convenient, there is a parking lot, and there are also free parking spaces on the side of the road.
②It is recommended to go there around noon for shooting. The sun will pass through the eaves and form a narrow band of light, and there are also mottled light leaks to create a better atmosphere. The characteristic mutton soup of Luocheng Ancient Town must be tasted. Even I, who don't like mutton, think it's delicious.
