About Makye Ame

Makye Ame is situated in a small khaki building at the southeast corner of Barkor Street, Lhasa. It is a restaurant with mainly Tibetan, Indian, and Nepalese dishes. "Makye Ame" means "an unmarried girl" in Tibetan, and came from a love poem by the 6th Lama. According to legend, the khaki building is where Tsangyang Gyatso and Makye Ame met for a date. The building has three floors. The top has a full view of Barkor Street.
