Nanming Mountain

Nanming Mountain is located 2 kilometers south of the city, across the Oujiang River from the city. The temples and pavilions on the mountain are hidden in the jungle, and the historic sites are looming in the Danya, which is known as the "Wind of the Cang". There are upright cliffs in the middle of the mountain, and there is a refreshing air pavilion slightly above, commonly known as the Mid-level Pavilion. There are also huge boulders more than ten feet long, which are called stone beams. There are many ancient inscriptions in Shiliang and Yinyue Pond under the beam, Gaoyang Cave a little above, and Yunge House on the top of the mountain, mainly by Song Dynasty authors. In the west of Yinyue Pond, there is Renshou Temple built in Song Dynasty. The total area of the scenic spot is 12.2 square kilometers, and it is characterized by strange rocks and beautiful waters, quiet mountains and forests, art of cliff stone carvings and folk customs of the She nationality. Nanming Mountain has many pictographic rocks, stone bridges and waterfalls, among which the stone scenery is very unique and is a famous mountain in southern Zhejiang. Nanming Mountain is also famous for its cultural landscape, especially the cliff stone carvings, among which the handwritings of Ge Hong, Shen Kuo and Mi Fu are extremely precious. Nanming Mountain Cliff Rock Carving: Nanming Mountain Cliff Rock Carving was listed as a provincial cultural protection unit in 1981. There are 58 cliff stone carvings, mainly in Shiliang, Gaoyang Cave and Yunge Cliff. The stone beam is more than ten feet long and hangs horizontally in the sky, which is called "half cloud" and "hanging rainbow". Yunge Cliff is located at the top of Nanming Mountain. It is a cliff with a height of 16 meters and a width of about 66 meters. A four-cornered pavilion is built on the cliff. There are 12 stone carvings, and the word "Ling Chong" is on the cliff behind the pavilion. The calligraphy is vigorous, and it is said that it was written by Ge Hong in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. There are also three characters "Nanming Mountain" inscribed by Mi Fu, a great calligrapher and painter in the Northern Song Dynasty. There is a well on the cliff, named Gejing, which is said to be the well that Ge Hong used for alchemy.
