    Wieed but good

This place was on our list of alternative places we wanted to see and we loved it. Very macabre and sobering experience.

    A church with Bones

Church is ptetty so do take some time to have a look at that before going into the Ossarie. The bone room is full of arranged bones. What is there to say and is exactly as the reviews.

    A great find

Just behind the Duomo, a great find for taphophiles (cemetery fans) as the side chapel is constructed of human bones. Eerie and wonderful. The church is a bit worn but very grand, with an amazing arra...

    Compelling and sobering

This is not the big church but the smaller sanctuary in the building on your left as you look at the big church. It is small and quiet and meditative to stare at walls full of bones and skulls of peo...

Additional Information

Introduction

See the human skulls and bones at San Bernardino alle Ossa chapel in Milan, Italy. Explore the unusual and extraordinary chapel built in 1695 because the nearby cemetery ran out of space. Somewhat hidden off the main church, skulls, leg and arm bones are wall mounted in various cruciform patterns. Some debate exists as to the origin of the bones from the decapitated heads of criminals, to illegitimate children or martyrs from the Arian massacres. Even more debatable is visitors' take on the attraction from freakish and bizarre to delightfully disturbing.
