Arashi is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. It is not fancy or expensive, which I very much enjoy. The fish is very good and the service is always timely and accurate. They have a great selection of rolls (including some with no rice) and have recently added some new grilled options as well. The spicy tuna on crispy rice is a must! The calamari and mushroom appetizer is also delicious. Happy hour deals are really great and goes until 8pm.
This restaurant is just about 1 block away from Staples Centre and I visited this place before attending a Clippers game. The restaurant is very crowded and busy when I was there, perhaps due to the game. I sat at the sushi bar and kept myself busy by observing the 4 chefs preparing the food. The food took some time to arrive perhaps they were really overwhelmed. Food quality wise, they were not bad. The fish and ingredients used were fresh and the presentation is very pleasing. Personally I feel it is slightly expensive if not for the happy hour promotion.
If I could give 3.5 I would. Visited for lunch on a Friday...with a reservation. We ended up sitting outside due to lack of tables, which was fine. Food was good, not great. Some of the sushi was amazing/very fresh, while others were so so. That's a tough place to be in if you're a sushi restaurant. Service good, but food delivery was not sequenced right. Our meals were staggered, so I was done by the time my dining partner got her food.
Decent sushi. From other reviews, happy hour offers a better deal because of a discount. We had lunch and it was edible. Perhaps we will try on another occasion.
