Trip Moments

The highway from San Francisco, along the coastline to Los Angeles, this highway is one of the most classic road trips in the world. Along the west coast of the United States, all the way to the distance of more than a thousand kilometres, you can drive, bathed in the sunshine of California. On one side is the endless sea, and on the other side is the steep and towering cliffs. You can walk through the misty mountains in the morning and lay on the beach in the evening, watching the sunset over the sea and the vast Pacific Ocean. Watching the children on the beach take the waves, listening to the seagulls flapping their wings, and taste the slightly sharp sea water on the tip of your tongue. This is probably the most unexpected travel memory of California Highway 1.

Universal Studios Hollywood is located in Hollywood on the northern outskirts of Los Angeles. At the beginning of the 20th century, film producers discovered the ideal natural environment for filming, and they gradually concentrated on it, making this land gradually become a world-famous film city.  Since 1912, production companies were established one after another. By 1928, a line-up of film companies led by Paramount and eight major film companies had been formed. The thirties and forties were the heyday of Hollywood, and they produced a large number of outstanding films that became masterpieces in the history of film, and made the influential American movies that are famous all over the world.  At the same time, Hollywood has also developed into a cultural centre in the United States. Many writers, musicians, movie stars and others have gathered here. After the Second World War, the studios moved out one after another, and many filming facilities were idle or changed to TV film makers. In the early 1960s, Hollywood became the main production base for American television programs.

In the evening, I went to the Griffith Observatory. We were still parking the car when we saw the light of the sunset shine on the Observatory building. We had to climb the mountain to get there. I saw a man smoking and stopped to ask for directions. He told me told me to continue climbing for 15 minutes. I climbed for 45 minutes and then looked up at the observatory. The dim light coming from it overlooked the night scene of Los Angeles. It was quite beautiful, so I just stood there quietly and watched the lights.
