River Nile

Dipping our toes in Nile near Aswan, Egypt. One of the great things about taking a River Cruise from Luxor to Aswan instead of driving or taking a train is you can have experiences like this one. It was December so the water was chilly, but we did not mind. #wintergetaway #wintergetaway

In Luxor we went to a stone carving workshop. Yes, they did give a small educational talk, which was interesting. They explained the differences in various types of stone in the area and showed examples of how items were made. Of course, they want you to buy, so be ready to bargin, hard. #wintergetaway #wintergetaway

At Luxor Temple in Egypt you can still see parts of a fresco of the disciples in the temple walls and how a doorway was converted to become part of a Coptic Church. The Christians used it for worship many years after it fell out of use with the Egyptians. #wintergetaway

In Luxor at the Karnak Temple Complex you can see Obelisk of various sizes. It was very interesting to learn how thousands of years ago they found away to lift and secure in place such large stones with out modem machines. Very ingenious! #wintergetaway
