[Scenery] Beautiful scenery and laid-back atmosphere
[Fun] It takes more than an hour to take a boat from Copacabana to Sun Island, and to climb a long stone ladder to the top of the mountain. It may be because of mountain climbing on the plateau, I feel a little bit of breathlessness. However, when I stood on the top of the mountain looking at the endless lake scenery from high to low, the beauty was refreshing and the hard work was worth it. The lake is blue and clear, and the sky on the plateau is also very blue. It seems that we are very close to the clouds, with high visibility, and the snow-capped mountains in the distance can be seen clearly. There are many stone houses on the mountain, some of them are full of flowers, there are many cute alpacas, some residents are selling souvenirs, life is very leisurely.
This place reminded me of the ruins in Machu Picchu but of course of a much much smaller scale. Worth a visit.
The day we visited there were many locals arriving by boat in traditional dress to celebrate the first day of Spring. The history of the island and the ruins are very interesting.
This island is even more remote and quiet than sun island . Comes with a lovely little temple to the sun virgins. I really enjoyed the 10 mins walk around the temple but also watching the community ...
This is a very well preserved temple that's easy to access for those who may wish to have a less physically challenging experience.
Climb to the top of this smaller island for some beautiful panoramic views. You can also stay overnight if you really want a quiet rural time if it
