Tomb of Ferdowsi

Erdosi is Iran's national poet, known as Iran's "Homer". His work "The Book of Kings" is Iran's greatest national epic, telling the story of more than 50 kings and heroes in Persian mythology and history from the beginning of the world to the destruction of the Persian Empire in the middle of the 7th century AD. In 1934, to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the poet's birth, the Iranian government rebuilt the present mausoleum for the poet. There is a tall and heavy white monument in the center of the cemetery. The entire monument is made of sandstone. The monument is decorated with six Corinthian columns on all sides. The front monument is inscribed with the famous poems of Ferdowsi. Ferdowsi's tomb is located in the memorial hall under the monument. This is a two-story memorial, with four stone pillars in the middle surrounding a square platform, and this square marble is the tomb of Ferdowsi.
