This wonderful and well-laid-out zoo offers a chance to see unique Australian wildlife that you rarely get the opportunity to spot in normal life. There’s a duckbilled platypus, wombats, Tasmanian devils and koalas, as well as the more easily spotted kangaroos and emus. It was great to get up close to animals like the platypus and wombats.

Terrific zoo! Don't miss out on the butterfly house or the lemur exhibit, those were my favorites. Getting to the zoo from Melbourne's CBD is quite easy- Tram 55 takes you right there.
I went their the other day with school and some of the tourists there were very rude, this little boy needed help with a game and I asked if he needed help and he said yes then I helped him and then his mother comes up to me and yells at me for 'snatching a toy off a child' and 'snatching it so I could play the game' I just think this is inconsiderate
Fantastic place, fabulous selection of animals where you could get up close. Loved having photos with the wallabies running freely.
Don't miss out the merkats, red pandas and the cute wombats. They have these weird orange monkeys and a butterfly room.
