Desert Camp
#celebratewithtrip
We proceed to the desert camp by camel after sunset, about half an hour ride, we reach the camp through darkness.
Same as usual, a welcome drink is served, while we are waiting for the rooms. I asked one of the staff the name of the accommodation, he told me it is Luxury Oasis Camp located in the heart of the Desert of Merzouga, of the great and majestic Erg Chebbi. Our luggage is transferred by a 4X4 vehicle.
Premium Berber tent with a queen size bed, private bathroom and shower with low pressure not so hot water. There is a powerpoint for you to charge your phone, and Berber craftsmanship boxes and tables to place your things. Inside the tent there is a window, that you can open to let air come in, because it is not an air conditioner.
Dinner shared with others at the table of 8 or 9, after dinner, they will gather around the fire to play the traditional music.
You can wake up in the middle of the night to watch the galaxy in the dark, and sunrise in the morning. After that have your breakfast, and prepare to go back to the town of Merzouga.
一生人最少去一次沙漠
Just a quick note to say what a fabulous 12 day tour I found this to be.
If you want to learn about the culture and history of a country as well as seeing some spectacular scenery then this is for you. There is a lot of travelling involved and a few early morning departures but enough time for rest to compensate. Maybe a little more space in the mini-bus would have been nicer as the back 4 seats were a little cramped but there were plenty of breaks during the journeys to from Marrakech to Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Fes, Merzouga, Skoura, Tigzha, Ouarzazate, Essaouira and back to Marrakech.
Food was good and sometimes exceptional. All accommodation was acceptable and in some cases fantastic. This was my first holiday of this type and I will certainly try another - most likely with Fes.#境外遊
Sahara Golden Sand Merzouga !
Merzouga is a small village in southeastern Morocco, about 35 km (22 mi) southeast of Rissani, about 55 km (34 mi) from Erfoud, and about 50 km (31 mi) from the Algerian border.
The village is known for its proximity to Erg Chebbi, and it is for this reason that a part of the itineraries of many tourists visit Morocco.[1] It has been described as "a desert theme park", and the Erg Chebbi as "a wonderland of sand".[2] Merzouga has the largest natural underground body of water in Morocco

I can’t even put into words how much I loved the three days I spent in this little town in the Sahara Desert. Merzouga is situated near the Algerian border, and is the perfect base from which to experience the culture and beautiful landscapes of the Sahara. You’ll find a massive expanse of sand dunes here, making you feel like you’re worlds away from civilization. But in fact, Merzouga is fairly easy to access, and has plenty of accommodations to make it an easy add to your Morocco itinerary. Stay at least two nights in a luxury desert camp to get the full experience and to give yourself enough time to unwind. Don’t miss ATV riding around the dunes, a musical performance from the local Berbers, and dinner under the stars. #awesomepic

The great Sahara Desert 🐪
An amazing experience to watch the sunset and sunrise. Slide down the dunes and enjoy the climb up the fine sand. A trip not to be missed when you are in Morocco.
Incredible Sahara 🐪🌵
Reasons to Recommend: It was the highlight of my trip to Morocco 🇲🇦 I had an amazing experience in the Sahara desert! It was a long travel to get there but you can always do a few stops for sightseeing which makes the trip bearable. Watch the sunrise and sunset on the top-of the highest dunes and slide down the dunes for some extra fun.
Morocco, although an African country, has a very unique geographical location. It is the intersection of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, facing the European continent across the sea. It has deserts, hills, oases, and snow-capped mountains, making it a holy land for skiing and surfing. Starting from Marrakech, it takes more than 8 hours to reach the Merzouga Desert via Ouarzazate by car. Our trip of eight people this time verified this saying. Morocco, Africa.
Amazing time in Morocco

Erg Chebbi Dunes Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Morocco Wonders; Erg Chebbi
Erg Chebbi is considered as one of the most impressive scenery of Moroccan desert. The desert is rocky to begin with, like a drum roll preparing you for the upcoming high Sahara dunes that you can distinguish in the distance. Then comes the sand, warm and mysterious, never knowing what is hidden behind a dune. One of the hills will reveal your magical tented camp, settled in the middle of nowhere.
The highlight of the day start wuth a camel ride through the desert dunes followed by a reception of mint tea. Marvel at the stunning sunset while enjoying the peacefulness and tranquility in the luscious orange wilderness.
Watching the sun set over the high dunes of the Sahara Desert is alos one of the highlights! Set in the middle of golden sand dunes, each tent is decorated with traditional Moroccan crafts and handmade carpets, all featuring a comfortable large bed and en-suite bathroom with running hot water. In the evening, venture into the restaurant tent to enjoy a memorable evening with a Moroccan dinner accompanied by local entertainment, before finishing your night stargazing to your heart's content.
Moroccan wild calling | Deep into the secret gardens of the Sahara Desert
Sometimes, the unforgettable experience comes from an impulsive run away. The call of the wildness awakens the passion of your sleep from the distant North Africa. Stay away from the city, go deep into the desert hinterland, wear stars to wear the moon, camp to watch the stars, return to the state of return to make your travels become lighter. That's right, you have now received an invitation from North Africa: Morocco and its desert are waiting for you at night.
The golden sand dunes of Sahara are soaring and undulating. Occasionally there are palm trees next to the oasis, and there will be some Berber villages nearby. The village Merzouga is the entrance to the Sahara, where desert tents are concentrated and situated between the dunes. The village is famous for its proximity to the highest Erg Chebbi sand dunes in the Sahara Desert, which is the most beautiful at sunrise and sunset, as the sun dyes the sand dunes red.
[What to do in the Erg Chebbi sand dunes]
1Looking at the camel watching the sunset
coming to the Sahara, riding the desert boat on the sand dunes, climbing the sun and watching the sunset Out, it is a rare experience. The desert camel, desolate and mysterious, elopes to this point, fearing that it has long since moved away from modern society. If you live in a tent or hotel near the sand dunes of Merzouga, the locals will recommend you to ride a dromedary, and they will take you into the desert.
2Overnight in the desert, look at the Milky Way h
the desert is so big and uninhabited, can you want to roll it anywhere? In theory, it is ok. After all, not many people have the experience of spending a few nights in the desert. However, after all, the desert is in a difficult condition. You can roll for a few hours, and you still want to find a better place to roll one night. The campsite is also concentrated in the vicinity of Merzouga. Most of them are mainly tents for two people. I want to do this, but there is no soundproofing.
The Majestic Dunes of Erg Chebbi
Erg Chebbi, in southeastern Morocco, is one of the most strikingly beautiful parts of the Sahara Desert. Known for its dramatic, high sand dunes that can reach up to 150 meters in height, Erg Chebbi offers a landscape that feels both timelessly serene and overwhelmingly powerful.
What to Expect
Visitors to Erg Chebbi can experience the traditional nomadic Berber life amidst a backdrop of endless sand. The dunes are renowned for their remarkable changes in color during sunrise and sunset, shifting from golden to deep reds and oranges. The desert is not just a sea of sand; it's an ecosystem with a surprising amount of life and local culture.
Experiences and Recommendations
A camel trek through the dunes is an unforgettable way to experience the vastness of the desert. Overnight stays in a desert camp offer the full Sahara experience, complete with traditional Berber music and food under the stars. For those seeking adventure, quad biking and sandboarding are popular activities that take advantage of the desert’s vast, open landscapes.
Tips and Tricks
Visiting Erg Chebbi requires some planning, as it is relatively remote. Most visitors arrange tours from Marrakech or Fez which include transportation to the desert. These tours can vary in length but often include stops at other points of interest along the way. It’s important to bring clothing suitable for both the heat of the day and surprisingly cool nights. Sturdy shoes, sun protection, and plenty of water are essential.
Personal Reflections
Waking up to a sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi was a moment of pure magic. The silence of the desert morning, with the soft light painting the sands and the cool breeze, was an invigorating start to the day. It was a powerful reminder of nature’s beauty and the enduring spirit of the landscapes that have shaped human history and culture.
For those drawn to the beauty of stark, natural landscapes and the rich traditions of nomadic cultures, Erg Chebbi offers a profound connection to the natural world and a chance to explore the quieter, untouched spaces of our planet.
