Explore remnants from the Cuban exodus at The Freedom Tower. On the first floor, an exhibition of artifacts from the first exiles is displayed. View old suitcases, hand made dresses, guayaberas (the typical linen, four-pocketed Cuban shirt) and, even, teddy bears, which comforted children on the voyage. There are many black and white photographs of the immigrants as well. They came to the Freedom Tower to be processed upon their arrival in Miami. On the upper floors of the tower, there are museums of art. One of my favorite pieces of cultural history is "The Sleep of Dream Producers Monsters" from Goya.
Local and historical
The Freedom Tower is consider Miami's Ellis Island, a butter yellow beacon in Downtown Miami across from Bayside Market place, served as an immigration processing center.
The Freedom Tower is a landmark of Miami. It has a century-old history. It was once a government office building. You can visit the Freedom Tower. But when we passed by, it was not open and just took photos.
