Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve, located in the hinterland of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and southern Qinghai Province, has a total area of 12.31 10,000 square kilometers as of February 2020. It has 12 townships and 53 administrative villages under its jurisdiction. It is the birthplace of the three major rivers of the Yangtze River, Yellow River and Lancang River. It is known as the Chinese Water Tower and the Asian Water Tower.[1] It is the largest nature reserve in China; the highest natural wetland in China; and the nature reserve with the highest biodiversity concentration in the world's high altitude areas.
