Kato Mili Windmills, Mykonos
#createwithtrip - Fabulous Hilltop View
Set on top of the landmark hill on Mykonos island, overlooking the picturesque sealine and beautiful whitewashed town of Chora, is the iconic row of white Kato Mili Windmills with thatched roofs. Of the 16 windmills still standing, 7 are positioned on the Chora hilltop.
Initially built between the 15th and 16th century, these iconic landmarks of Mykonos were primarily used for grinding grain/wheat for the wealthy families, the monasteries of the island as well as local barkeries. Construction and preservation works continued until the early 20th century.
After their use for milling stopped, they eventually converted into homes, storage facilities and accomodation for travellers. One in particular, Boni's Windmill, has since been transformed into a traveller's museum.
Each windmill has a distinctive rounded shape and faces the north where there are strong winds flowing from the open seas. While admiring the windmill, you can catch the magnificant views of Chora (especially Little Venice) and the beautiful harbourfront from the top !
Do walk through the iconic labyrinth of narrow cobberstone pathways, take a stroll along the various beaches, port front and also walk along the various cafe sidewalk of Little Venice by the break water for more scenic ocean views and insta shots !
Note : From Singapore, you can purchase your flight ticket on Trip.com and fly to Athens International Airport via Jetstar. From there take a connecting flight to Mykonos. Mykonos is a Greek island in the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea. Also nicknamed as "The Island of the Winds" for the breezy strong island winds, Mykonos is well known for its vibrant nightlife and summer party atmosphere, in addition to whitewashed buildings, historical architecture, colourful maze of alleyways, upscale shops and a beautfiul beachline.
Mykonos is my favorite island in the world ❤️ I love islands but this one is special
Both the policing and the style are a bit like the Malay area at the foot of Cape Town's Table Mountain, but the architectural colors are more colorful. When the 19th world, when large numbers of European migrants arrived here, they painted their houses colorful.
In Greece during the National Day last year, the first place to go to Mykonos Island. It takes 6 hours to take a boat from Athens, and the love sea blue is so painful. Compared to the most prestigious Santorini, Mykonos Island is much smaller, but it is the accident of my trip, the unexpected beauty, and the unexpected leisure. The hotel is set on the edge of the famous windmill, getting up early to watch the sunrise, very quiet, very beautiful, the sky is light blue and the faint purple intertwined, against the small Venice in the distance, very beautiful. Mykonos Island gives people a delicate feeling. Various restaurants gather handsome guys. In Little Venice, you can choose a bar to order a drink and chat and watch the sunset. It is a great experience. Many shops in the street can go to the depths of the alley on the side of the main road. There are fewer people, the price is more favorable, and the people are more nice.
Mykonos Island Mykonos is very good, you can go and see it, open the view
Mykonos and Santorini are among the top ten paradises in the 50 places recommended by travelers in their lifetime by National Geographic magazine one of the most famous islands in the Greek islands, and called the “island closest to paradise.” But after two days of swimming, I didn’t understand why it was called ‘the closest to heaven’. With her sunny sandy beaches, traditional and unique architecture (white-feathered walls), charming and lively nightlife, and quiet, maze-like alleyways, Miknos became a popular tourist destination. The island's famous attractions include the town of Hora, Little Venice, Windmill Array (but not as good as Amsterdam's windmill), a rare 'Neo III', etc. There is also the world's most lively and famous gay destination - AstroBeach, but the 'gays' are scared to move their nests by the enthusiastic tourists who flock to Super Paradise and occasionally see a few half-naked or fully-naked comrades on AstroBeach.
This island is mainly for vacation consumption, and it is not recommended for other purposes. Most of the islands are mainly young couples on vacation. The main activity is to bask in the sun on the beach and drink at night in the beach bar. The island is recommended to rent a car, there is almost no public transportation, the legendary celestial beach is not big, the twists and turns have to go over the mountain to get there, most of them are still wearing clothes, a small part of the naked upper body, did not see the rush to the naked.
