Hegui Building

Hegui Building, also known as the foot building, is located in the village of Meilin Town, Nanjing County, 53 kilometers away from the city of Nanjing. Built in the Qing Dynasty, it was built by Jianciping Gong, with a total investment of 155,000 silver, and it covers an area of 1547 square meters. It is the tallest earth building in Nanjing. This earth building is built on a marshland, with more than 200 pine trees piled and paved, after more than 200 years, it is still solid and stable, and well preserved. And Guilou "three strange" and Guilou five floors high, 21.5 meters, don't underestimate this number, this is the "most in the world", that is to say, and Guilou is the tallest of all Fujian Tulou known, this is a strange. And Guilou has 28 rooms on each floor, a total of 140 rooms. The building opens a gate in the middle, and there are stairs up and down in each of the north and west. And the third strangeness of the building, that is, two wells in the building, 18 meters apart, the water level of the well is higher than the ground, the well on the left, clear as a mirror, the water quality is sweet, a few red carp in the well swim, like a spirit, and the well on the right is turbid yellow, filthy, completely undrinkable. This is a strange landscape due to the different material structure of the two wells. Since the shallow layer of the marsh is rotting marsh water, the deep layer is drinking groundwater. So both wells were drilled into the groundwater layer at the design time. However, the well is made of cement, and the turbid well is made of small round stones. This leads to less gap in the wall of the turbid well, and the gap in the wall of the turbid well is larger. While two wells pass through the marsh layer, a large amount of marsh water seeps into the turbid water, resulting in its turbidity and toxic, and the clear water wells do not seep into much so can be drunk.

Hegui Building is one of the two most famous earth buildings in Yunshuiyao Scenic Area. Located on the south side of the scenic spot, you can see it within a few minutes from the ticket office.
