Meiling Palace is located on Xiaohong Mountain in the east of Nanjing Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. It was built in 1931. It was originally the official residence of the president of the National Government, also known as the Xiaohongshan official residence. Because Chiang Kai-shek and Song Meiling often came here for vacation, it is also known as "Meiling Villa." It is also one of Nanjing's most spectacular and elegant buildings. Meiling Villa has yellow exterior walls, crimson pillars and a green glazed tile roof. The roof is engraved with more than 1,000 phoenixes, and the beautiful paintings underneath the eaves make people feel the grandeur of a Chinese royal palace. There is an underground floor beneath the building and three floors from the ground up. Everything is basically arranged in the same way as it was during the habitation of the Jiang-Song couple.
