stunning place. so relaxing and so beautiful.I stayed in the shuishe pier area which is good if you're traveling by bus.rent a bike and ride on the cycle path. take a sunrise walk when the lake is calm. shuttle bus is useful to see all the major attractions. there is also boats that take you around the lake.a really quaint beautiful town.I took the bus directly from Taipei main bus station. took around 4 hours.
Amazing cycling route which you cannot skip, better reserve hotel in advance if its holiday in taiwan. A new pagoda built where you can take a short hike up hill and get the whole lake view from the top. The road from taichung to nantou is also amazing - if you want to go by scooter, license is required. Many lakes and mountains around this small town with best landscape view
This is one of the very many reasons why Taiwan is called Formosa. Sun Moon Lake is breathtaking even on foggy and rainy days. There is a lot to do and see in this area, and the food is very delicious. Be sure to ride the gondola for a bird's eye view of the grand lake.
A beautiful place with a serenity that calms those around it...
