Lofoten Island Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Norway | The end of the world, the Lofoten Islands
| The end of the world, the Lofoten Islands. 🇳🇴 Lofoten, a paradise within the Arctic Circle, is rated by National Geographic as the second most beautiful archipelago in the world and described by Lonely Planet as 'breathtakingly beautiful'. It is, along with Senja, one of the most beautiful and worthwhile places to visit in Norway in my opinion!
Who wouldn't yearn for those isolated colorful little houses🏠? Lofoten is just that, solitary and peaceful, with beautiful and gentle lakes and mountains. How should you play in Lofoten? I recommend renting a car🚖 to have the most fun touring the entire island!
📸 About the attractions
❶ Hamnoy
Google Maps location 'Fotospot Hamnoy', the cover of Lonely Planet, better wide-angle shooting effect on the east side of the bridge.
❷ Olenilsoya kystfort
Location 'Roastad Retro Rorbuer', a few red houses, walk up the mountain trail next to the houses for a better view, especially when the lights of the fishing village are on in the evening.
❸ Å town
The end of the Lofoten Islands, the town with the shortest name in the world, with distant mountains looming, giving a sense of extremity.
❹ Skagsanden beach
The desolate beach along the E10 highway.
❺ Yellow House
Location 'Anita’s Sjomat', the popular yellow house is right next to it, nothing special about the house itself, but the surrounding scenery is not bad, worth a walk.
❻ XHenningsvaer Stadium
The football field is at the end of Henningsvaer, with nice scenery along the way, a romantic journey.
🚘 Route suggestion: Lofoten + Senja Island + Tromsø
🌈 Travel Tips
It is suggested to visit these places together, each with its own charm, no need to worry about aesthetic fatigue😻
Tromsø needs no introduction, stroll through the colorful streets of houses🏠, the design-savvy Arctic Cathedral, take the cable car🚠 to overlook the fjord, both the live view and the photo angles are good
Senja Island, which is on the way from Tromsø to Lofoten, is a perfect stopover. The mountains🏞 on Senja are higher, the terrain is more varied, and there are more viewing platforms, offering a more visually impactful experience
Winter's ultimate scenery not to be missed: Norway's Lofoten Islands.
As a child born in the south, the world of ice and snow has always been a place I longed for, but I also maintain a sense of awe and distance from it, knowing full well that I cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. That's why I have visited so many countries, with destinations mostly in the southern parts of the earth or in Europe that are not too cold. However, when I thought about the rare opportunity to come to the Netherlands, it seemed a shame not to visit Norway, so I decided not to give up this opportunity that was right in front of me.
🚶🏻♂️Departing after New Year's Day, Norway is currently experiencing polar night, with less than five hours of daylight. If it snows or rains, it may be gloomy all day long. Be mentally prepared, because after 3 pm, the whole earth falls into darkness. Also, this period is not the peak tourist season on the island, and many indigenous people will leave. Therefore, once it gets dark, you may not see many people even if you drive for a long time.
🚗When coming to the Lofoten Islands, be sure to rent a car for self-driving. Especially in this season, there is almost no public transportation, and driving is the most convenient option. Also, be sure to choose a four-wheel drive car, equipped with snow tires, and get full insurance, which is related to life safety. I rented a car at Evenes airport, which is relatively close to the Lofoten Islands. I also have friends who rented a car from Tromsø and drove all the way, which can be more tiring.
📍My trip in Lofoten lasts for five nights and six days, which is relatively tight. I will stay in three popular destinations on the islands: Andøya, Henningsvær, and Reine, and then explore from these three points. This way, the driving distance each day won't be too long, and I can experience the local customs and culture to the fullest. Among the three places, my favorite is still Henningsvær, which has a iconic football field at the end of the world, snow-capped mountains, and a larger city half an hour's drive away where I can buy materials and find enough restaurants.
🦪During the winter season, many restaurants in Rovaniemi are closed due to the off-season for travel. In addition, the cost of traveling in northern Europe is already higher than in the south, and even ordinary restaurants have an average cost of around 200-300 RMB per person. Therefore, buying relatively cheap raw materials in supermarkets and cooking for oneself is a more worry-free and cost-effective way.
📸As long as it's a good day, the Isle of Rafton is really photogenic, with an extreme purity and coolness that will make you unable to stop your camera. Many times, you can take very beautiful photos with just your phone. My camera model is Canon R5, and I basically used the 24-105 lens throughout the journey.
Next winter, looking forward to the opportunity to say goodbye to the Nordic again!
Lofoten Islands, Norway
The Lofoten Islands are a dream destination for many travellers from all over the world. This archipelago offers one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. It owes its name "Lofoten" to its form, that of the footprint of a lynx. Get into the wild this year, leave the busy cities, treat yourself to limitless horizons. The Lofoten Islands are the promise of real contact with nature, with the elements. Located just 200 km from the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands will surprise you.
You will discover fine white sand beaches, a crystal blue sea, fishing villages out of a children's story, unforgettable landscapes. The easiest way is to book your flights to Oslo and take a domestic flight to Bodø. From Bodø, take the ferry to Svolvær where most of the expeditions to the Lofoten Islands leave. You can also reach Bodø by train from Oslo or Tromsø.
Book your flights to Oslo, your cheapest accommodation in Oslo, Svolvær or Reine as well as your best activities and tours in Norway.

I am ending my small Lofoten series with a classic one. This place is called Reine and it’s also world famous for its beauty. The funny thing: these pictures are literally captured by just stopping on the road. Hope you liked my Lofoten series and the impressions from there. Do you have questions about the trip? Hit me up! I can totally recommend visiting this amazing place. Next up: Iceland!

Sognefjord Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Souls of the Fjord~Sognefjord.
Norway, a land stretching long from north to south in Scandinavia, has half of its terrain consisting of fjords, with a coastline that is mostly jagged, hence Norway is also known as the 'Country of Fjords'.
Sognefjord (Sognefjorden), the world's second longest and Norway's longest fjord, has many branches, with the deepest inland branch being Lustrafjorden, and the southern branch – Nærøyfjord, both of which are listed as World Heritage Sites.
Spanning more than two-thirds the length of Taiwan, the entire Sognefjord is dotted with many seaside towns nestled between the mountains, becoming even more beautiful due to their location in the deep, long fjords and against the backdrop of majestic peaks.
We boarded the ferry in the small town at the deepest part of Nærøyfjord in Gudvangen, which is the starting and ending point of the fjord ferry. Notable attractions include the Viking Village, and the surrounding scenery of Gudvangen is stunning, boasting the most magnificent fjord views. The journey is breathtakingly beautiful, with nature's craftsmanship on full display, leaving one in awe. Passing through some towns, the houses are scattered in the valleys, creating a tranquil fjord and a picturesque scene full of poetry that is captivating.
Visiting the fjord relies on luck, as the weather is unpredictable, so good weather gives us the opportunity to appreciate the beautiful scenery. Therefore, being able to see such endlessly vast and beautiful vistas of the fjord is truly enchanting and exhilarating!
🌸 Let the scenery and the adorable samoyeds take your breath away.

On the picturesque west coast of Norway, there is a fairyland listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List - the Sognefjord.
This magnificent and verdant fjord landscape is a masterpiece of nature and a spiritual habitat for every traveler longing for pure travel.
Starting from the bustling capital Oslo, a journey that combines natural exploration, cultural experience, and taste enjoyment is waiting for you.
【Transportation Guide】
To embark on this adventure, you can choose a variety of convenient transportation methods.
Take the picturesque Bergen Railway, depart from Oslo, cross the pastoral mountains in the middle of Norway, arrive at Lærdal in about 5 hours, and then transfer to the famous Flåm Railway to go deep into the fjord.
In addition, self-driving enthusiasts can also drive along the winding roads, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way to the destination.
There are also daily bus services between Oslo and the fjord area, providing more flexibility for the itinerary.
【Accommodation Recommendation】
Around the Sognefjord, there are many different styles of accommodation facilities to meet different budget and taste needs.
From the luxurious and comfortable fjord view hotel, the price per night is about 2000-3000 Norwegian kroner (about RMB 1600-2400), to the economical and local characteristic guest houses or campsites, the price is usually 800-1500 Norwegian kroner (about 650-1200 yuan).
Some hotels even have restaurants, allowing tourists to enjoy food while enjoying the panoramic view of the fjord.
【Food Experience】
Norwegian seafood is undoubtedly a highlight of this trip. In the Sognefjord area, try the freshly caught salmon and the delicate Norwegian shrimp. The average consumption of an authentic seafood meal is about 500-700 Norwegian kroner (about 400-550 yuan).
At the same time, don't forget to try the local specialty dishes of grilled meat and cloud berry desserts, which will lead you to appreciate the unique charm of Norwegian food culture.
【Play Guide】
One of the best ways to visit the Sognefjord is to take a cruise, leisurely travel between the blue waters, and feel the steepness of the cliffs and the beauty of the waterfalls up close.
The cruise ticket price is generally around 500 Norwegian kroner (about 400 yuan).
In addition, hiking enthusiasts can choose to hike along the trails around the fjord, immerse themselves in the original ecology of nature for free.
If time permits, you can also arrange to visit the nearby Flåmsdalen Valley, or challenge to climb the peak over a kilometer above sea level, overlooking the entire fjord.
The journey from Oslo to the Sognefjord is a feast for the eyes and the soul.
On this quiet and majestic land, you may encounter surprises at every turn, and every stop will gain touch. Bring curiosity about the unknown and the pursuit of beauty, and let the Sognefjord in Norway become a colorful chapter in your life journey.

Bryggen Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Bryggen comercial Buildings
Bryggen, also known as Tyskebryggen, is a series of Hanseatic heritage commercial buildings lining up the eastern side of the Vågen harbour in the city of Bergen, Norway. Bryggen has been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites since 1979. The city of Bergen was founded around 1070 within the boundaries of Tyskebryggen. Around 1350 a Kontor of the Hanseatic League was established there, and Tyskebryggen became the centre of the Hanseatic commercial activities in Norway. Today, Bryggen houses museums, shops, restaurants and pubs. Bergen was established before 1070 AD. In the Middle Ages, the Bryggen area encompassed all buildings between the sea and the Stretet (Øvregaten) road, from Holmen in the north to Vågsbunnen in the south. According to the Sagas, the city was founded within this area. #familytravel

Trolltunga Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Trolltunga
Trolltunga is a rock formation situated about 1,100 metres above sea level in Ullensvang Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The cliff juts horizontally out from the mountain, about 700 metres above the north side of the lake Ringedalsvatnet. Popularity of the hike to Trolltunga and rock formation itself has exploded in recent years. The increased popularity has turned Trolltunga into a national icon and a major tourist attraction for the region. Until 2010, fewer than 800 people hiked to Trolltunga each year. In 2016 more than 80,000 people hiked the 27-kilometre (17 mi) round-trip from the village of Skjeggedal, making it one of Norway's most popular hikes. #hiking

Beautiful scenery at the Trolltungga 2023
#2024wish
The Trolltungga hike is one of the absolute highlights in Norway, the beautiful scenery is really amazing and impressive when you see it yourself.
Get ready some comfort wear and warm clothes as you required to hike to reach the scenic view point. And also warm clothes as the weather is really cold. This is definitely a tour that must be included in your itinerary.
In 2024, I wish to visit United States 🇺🇸 to experience different kind of adventure .
