Neuschwanstein: the fairytale & historical
#2023travelwish
Germany, one of the most popular tourist destination. By the long time history of this country, people comes and go with great memories.
Neuschwanstein is well know and most of travelers come to Germany will come here either not only for take a picture but also its story.
Neuschwanstein castle is identical. The views around the castle always change upon the season you go. I’ve been to Neuschwanstein castle on autumn, it’s beautiful place. The trees all around are colorful. I’d like to comeback here on this winter to enjoy the different views that I’ve been to, this is my 2023 travel wish.
Looking for the Sleeping Beauty
#2023travelwish
Germany is known for its many castles and visiting castles is just what we did while there. One of the most famous castles to visit is the Neuschwanstein Castle as the castle in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty was known to be inspired by it. It was quite a hike up as the castle is located deep in the forest, on a rugged hill in Southwest Bavaria.
There are many nature trails to choose from, depending on where you arrive from. The one we chose was a 7km route that was moderately challenging with lots of steep hills to climb. We spent roughly around 4 hours hiking and exploring the castles before heading back to the train station. It was cold, wet and rainy but that did not dampen our spirits as we were excited because we don’t have such architecture in Singapore.
It was such a memorable trip and I’ll love to visit Germany and it’s many castles again.
Neuschwanstein Castle In Munich Germany
Munich is located in Germany where they are uncountable nukber of medieval houses, buildings and castle where one called the Neuschwanstein Castle is an eye opener, where I feel that it's just something out of a fairy tale book.
This castle is located in Schwangau, built in the 19th century on top of the hill where you are able to catch a glimpse from the castle down towards the ground clearly of any approaching enemies during the olden times. This castle has also gained its popularity due to the Disney story called sleeping beauty which inspired that show.
If you do want to go in, you won't be able to enter as its closed till 2024 for renovation and upkeep of the castle. But at least take a few photos of this castle as a remembrance that you have been here at least.

Hohenschwangau Castle Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Germany 🇩🇪 Hohenschwangau Castle
Another castle nestled at the foot of the mountains is Hohenschwangau Castle. Like Neuschwanstein Castle, visitors need to pay a reservation fee in advance. However, Hohenschwangau Castle is not included in the Bavarian Palace Pass, so visitors can only take photos from the outside. Does it resemble the castle from Super Mario when seen from afar? The trees below the mountain have peculiar branches, each standing out distinctly.
Hohenschwangau Castle | 12th century knight's castle under the Alps
Across the mountain from Neuschwanstein Castle is the slightly dull-looking Schloß Hohenschwangau, which is also less attractive to tourists compared to Neuschwanstein Castle. Most visitors choose to skip this castle, even though it was where the builder of Neuschwanstein Castle, "Mad King" Ludwig II, spent most of his life.
As early as the 12th century, the noble knights of Schwangau built the prototype of the Neuschwanstein Castle, which became the central theme of courtly love poetry at that time. After experiencing abandonment and destruction in wars, it was on the verge of collapse until Ludwig II's father, Maximilian II, bought it in the 19th century and had it renovated. Many famous artists of the Romantic period participated in the restoration work, allowing people today to visit the 14 rooms inside the castle. Ludwig II lived here since childhood, and it was here that he developed his somewhat eccentric personality and his passionate pursuit of art. This is where the fairy tale king of Bavaria handled official business and received guests, and where he met Wagner.
Nowadays, there are also 14 rooms open to tourists in Neuschwanstein Castle, which require following a guide for visiting, similar to the way of visiting the New Swan Castle. If you need to visit both Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle on the same day, it is recommended to make an appointment for tickets in advance to avoid spending a lot of time waiting for the guided tour on site. However, even if you don't visit the rooms in Hohenschwangau Castle, it doesn't hurt to take a look at the romantic appearance of the castle.
One of the most beautiful and alluring castles in Germany. Highly recommended to visit it during your trip to Fussen and especially to Neuschwanstein Castle. This castle is also lovely although the main highlight is still the Neuschwanstein Castle. This was where King Ludwig 2 spent his childhood. We learnt a little more about his parents and his brother from the castle tour which lasted about 50 mins. #wintergetaway

Neuschwanstein Castle, also known as Hohenschwangau Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle or Hohenschwangau Castle, is a castle in the village of Hohenschwangau in Schwangau, Bavaria, Germany. It faces the Neuschwanstein Castle and is adjacent to Fussen. Compared to the dreamy shape of Neuschwanstein, the appearance of Hohenschwangau can only be said to be a simple mini. But like Neuschwanstein, we turned around around it because of the time, and found that it was different from every angle. Coupled with the blue sky, I feel that such a small castle also has its own style. Although there is a charge for the visit to
Gaussberg, its own garden is free, in addition to the view of Neuschwanstein Castle, the Alpine Avenue in the scenic area, and the remote Alp Lake. Saying goodbye to the exquisite small pattern like Rothenburg, the perspective in front of the eyes is suddenly bright, and even the nose is full of the magnificent mountains.
Gaustian Castle is led by a tour guide, each of whom sends an audio guide, and each time a tour guide will play the voice introduction of the area. Although the swan castle has no glamour and dreams like the Neuschwanstein Castle, the collection in the castle is more abundant than the Neuschwanstein Castle. There are 14 rooms in the castle and a large number of rich collections open to visitors. Every piece of furniture is an original used in the past, very rich in life. From there, you can also see the influence of Wagner's opera "Roy Green" on Ludwig II's childhood, and the deep friendship between the two. The museum also has pianos and correspondences that were played by the two people. . After the death of Ludwig's father, Ludwig's main change to the Hohenschwangau was to paint some small stars on the ceiling of his bedroom and let it shine through hidden oil lamps. It was this romantic sentiment that allowed him to build the same romantic Neuschwanstein Castle.
I remembered a sharp statement about the evaluation of the two swan castles: Neuschwanstein outside the strong and dry, the high swan castle Jinyu inside. . .
[Other tips]
1) Neuschwanstein Castle is far from Gothenburg Castle, and it takes more than half an hour to walk purely. If you have a rest meal, it is recommended to leave the interval between the two castles. The official will usually arrange a 2 hour interval

Füssen Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
#tripaway Amidst beautiful, green natural scenery, just a few minutes from Neuschwanstein and the neighbouring castle of Hohenschwangau, Bavaria’s highest town, Füssen, lies on the shores of the Alpine River Lech. It marks the convergence of popular tourism routes such as the Romantic Road, the German Alpine Road and the Trans-Alpine Via Claudia Augusta. Up above, the Hohe Schloss, or High Castle, sits in majesty with its richly coloured illusionist paintings.
In the romantic streets of Füssen old town, medieval town houses sit alongside impressive Baroque churches. In summer, the many street cafés lend the old town district an almost Italian flair. Beautiful views can be enjoyed not only from the towers of the Hohe Schloss but also from boat trips on Lake Forggensee – including Neuschwanstein Castle against an Alpine backdrop.
Traces of the Bavarian kings abound in Füssen. The Hohe Schloss above the old town, the former summer residence of the Bishops of Augsburg, was due to be woken from its slumber in the 19th century and turned into a residence for Crown Prince Maximilian, father of the Fairy Tale King, Ludwig II. But things took a different turn: on a journey through the Alps, Maximilian came across the ruins of Schwanstein Castle and had his castle, Hohenschwangau, built there, just a few kilometres from Füssen.
A royal dream – The Allgäu on both sides of the River Lech, between wild mountains and idyllic lakes – this was the favourite retreat of the Bavarian Fairy Tale King Ludwig II, where he could escape from the everyday life of government in Munich. Here he turned his dreams into reality with Neuschwanstein Castle.
The view from Neuschwanstein Castle extends far out into the countryside. Standing on the balcony of the throne room on a castle tour, you can see why Ludwig II chose this particular location for his “Holy Grail”.

Many people came to Fussen to use it as a transit point to Swan Castle. In fact, as long as they take a moment, they will find that the small city has a beautiful beauty. The old town is not big, it can be completed in an hour's walk, the main street (Reichenstrase), two squares (Brotmarkt and Schrannenplatz), three churches (bishop Hohes Schloss, St.) Kloster und Kirche St. Mang and Heilig-Geist-Spitalkir-che, and some houses of 7788.
Walk in the old town of Fussen, you will not miss the small and dazzling building of P1, which is the Holy Spirit Hospital Church. It was burned down in 1733. The reconstructed church is lined with Rococo-style murals depicting the god of firefighting, St. Florian, and the patron saint of the Lech River, St. Christopher.
The old town is full of precious historical and cultural heritage. The P5 building is the monastery of St. Munchen, and its history dates back to the ninth century. It is also home to the Fssen Municipal Museum and is considered to be the best violin collection in Europe. This is the place where Fssen is the most historical and cultural heritage, and the pride of the Fussen people.
The accommodation and catering industry in the Old Town is very developed. There are many medieval buildings, and monasteries, bureaucracies, churches and many museums are located in the area. The town at night is quiet and serene, and the restaurants and shops that open during the day are alive and well.
The murals in the old town of Fssen are not as dense as those of Amorg, but there are also works that are very beautiful and worthy of stopping. The cottages here are also painted in colorful colours, with the Alps as the backdrop and the Lech River, which is somewhat closer to the fairy tale than Rothenburg.
Lai Xin Street is not long, go to the end, then the ancient city. After going out, turn right and turn, which is the moat of the moat here, the color of which is different in shades of jade. It is like a jade belt, quietly guarding Fusen, a beautiful and unique town. I rarely saw the introduction of the Lech River in the forum travels, so it was not until we walked to her side that she was truly surprised by her beauty.
Located in Fussen on the banks of the Lech, it is an ancient city full of romance.
Strolling in the old town, super quiet, Fussen town has a small population, so it is a good place to stay here for one night.
Fussen's Reichenstrae Street was along the Via Claudia Augusta, the ancient Roman road that extended to northern Italy, with historic mansions on either side of the street.
always thought that a tree like this would be as ok as we are, and I didnt think I needed to transplant it every year. Walking into the local market, I saw the moving melody of the performer in the affectionate style of the old grandfather, and it is an ancient musical instrument.
The music sounds like a bunch of lights hitting the wall, feeling the breath of Christmas. Beauty and food are better served, eat a local snack, drink a cup of hot cinnamon wine, and open the night.
Come to the Christmas market, the companion came with a 2 euro cashmere cap, super affordable and cute. One of the cottages is a local stall owner who takes out his own gift and sees what you like?

Schwangau Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A Cosy Restaurant In Schwangau
Staying the last night in Ameron Neuschwanstein Alpsee we were recommended a restaurant located just a 4 min walk away where locals say that this is the place where they enjoy and come together for a great meal over beers.
The Ludwing Stuberl is a German restaurant where they serve authentic local food like you pork knuckle, schnitzel, currywurst was told to be one of their popularity here, but of course we didn't had the capacity to try ALL the German food here, so we just ordered the classic burgers and pommes(fries) and the homemade baked pasta with fried shallots.
Do take note, German good serving are huge, so if you are a small eater I do recommend you to share.

Wilderness church and snowy road scenery in the Bavarian Alps.
Depart from Munich and take a one-day self-driving tour to Neuschwanstein Castle, located more than 150 kilometers away on the border of Fussen and Austria. Leaving Munich in the morning, the nearly 2-hour drive is not far for Chinese people. The scenery along the way is very beautiful. The German border in the southern Bavarian region crosses the Alps and borders Austria. The early spring snow has not yet melted. On the way to Neuschwanstein Castle, we were attracted by the beautiful scenery and stopped to take photos many times. The most beautiful one is the roadside church St Coloman in Schwangau, covered with snow, lonely churches and lonely trees on the wilderness, forming a sharp contrast with the nearby bustling fairy tale castle.

Although the southern part of Germany in winter is not as colorful as the autumn, there are white snow and clear blue sky everywhere. The beauty is fried, not cold, not cold. . . My weather has always been good. The chapel under the Swan Castle, the small bridge in Ramsau, everything is so beautiful.
Forggensee Lake Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The hidden sights on the edge of Neuschwanstein Castle, the sunset of the large harvest area of Lake Forggen
Forggensee (Forggensee) is a reservoir on the Lech River in Bavaria, Germany, near the town of Fussen. Lake Forggen covers an area of 15.2 square kilometers and is the fifth largest lake in Bavaria. Two-thirds of its area is located in Schwangau. Foregen Lake is currently used for water storage and power generation during the wet season. It will become a dry land after all the water is released in the winter, because it can be completed when the snow in the Alps near the spring begins to melt. Water, but not because of the winter water retention ice, and the melting of snow at the same time to form a flood. Cycling around the lake is also a very popular sport and travel style in the area.
The road to Lake Forggen is a typical country road. There are local houses on both sides of the road. Occasionally there are people who run the dog, but they can still be described as small people. The lawn with the same ground as the football field, and the Alpine dwellings in the "Sissi" movie, a larger back garden than a family, and unopened flowers, we see a big faint The poetic life of the city. The characteristics of the
Fergen Lake are that the underwater is the submerged ancient Roman military road. When the reservoir is released in winter, the avenue is revealed. There are cruise ships on the lake to enjoy the Alps.
Unfortunately, the speed of walking is limited, and we encountered a super beautiful sunset on the way to the lake. When it comes to the real lake, there is only the sunset after the sun sets, but it is beautiful. After the sun sets, the lake is quiet or quiet, and the pink-purple sunset glows the entire lake like a strong oil painting. This is the first lake in this trip, we are deeply attracted by the beauty in front of us, until the twilight is unwilling to leave.
Arrival: From Fssen Train Station, 2 km walk north along Augsburger Str to the lake
ticket price: free walking tour. The cruise ship has the "Fssen", 11 euros. "Ross Howe" is 8 euros.
Opening hours: All day on foot. From June 1st to October 5th, the cruise ship "Fssen" is 3 times a day. "Ross Howe" is 6 times a day.
