About Pai

Located about 50 miles (80km) north of Chiang Mai, Pai is a small town that has become a popular destination for backpackers due to its chilled-out vibe and its easy access to explore Thailand's northern jungles. What was once a small Shan market town now primarily lives off tourism, and the town's streets are lined with tourist shops and restaurants catering to foreign visitors. From Pai, there is very easy access to a number of elephant camps, waterfalls, and natural hot springs. Its proximity to the mountains makes it a great jumping off point for trekking excursions, where you can visit villages of various hill tribes, including the Karen, Hmong, Lisu and Lahu people. While Pai no longer feels undiscovered, traces of the traditional culture continue to exist, especially at the popular Wednesday market.

The Pai Grand Canyon is located on the road from Pai to Chiang Mai. The apex of the canyon is the highest point of Pai County. You can climb along the dirt road to the top. Standing at the top of the canyon, Pai County has a panoramic view and is a great place to enjoy the countryside. This is a great spot for sunsets. At sunset, red light, dust and cracked rock seams are fascinating in the setting sun.

Bridge
The Pai Historical Bridge is a steel bridge that was built by Japanese soldiers during World War II. The dark green steel frame on the bridge and the old wooden boards seem to be outdated. But some people have decorated some interesting elements on the bridge, making it a popular shooting point. On one side of the bridge there is a wooden sedan model where people can take a photo in the car.
