At a time where the Japanese were the largest group of laborers imported to work on the sugar plantations, this temple was constructed, and later, a crematorium and a cemetery.
We happened across this site. The temple is not in character with Hawaii but the cemetery is quite unique. I am not quite sure how to describe here but tranquil would be my best attempt.
I gave this 1 Star, not because it is a terrible place, but because this is a church and really not a tourist attraction. My grandparents and great grandparents are buried in the cemetery. We visite...
While you wouldn't make a special trip to visit this place, make sure you swing by on a road trip to upcountry Maui or while heading towards Mama's Fish House. Beautiful, peaceful place.
This temple is on Paia in Maui island. The temple is beautiful to see, I did not see noone in the area to see the whole ground area.
