Jardin des Plantes in the 5th arrondissement offers a few different, especially kid-friendly activities. There's a zoo, National Museum of Natural History, and beautiful gardens filled with flowers. Very pretty place and great for a picnic and nice walk around the area. There is also a restaurant, La Baleine, if you want to sit down for a meal.
This is the premier botanical gardens of France, planted for King Louis XIII in the 1600's. Nice walkways for a stroll or a jog. This park contains a great natural history museum (Grande Gallerie d'Evolution), as well as a zoo that originally housed exotic animals from the King's menagerie at Versailles.
Beautiful and quiet park, less renown than Jardin du Luxembourg and totally worth stopping by if you need a restful break. It's a botanical garden so of course, you can see (for free) all sorts of trees, flowers and even exotic plants in greenhouse. It has a lot of shade, which is great in summer and also has a small zoo (you have to pay though, but I'd say it's worth it).
