Chatuchak Park is built on land donated by the State Railway of Thailand. It is also one of the oldest public parks in Bangkok; it is a good place for Bangkok residents and even tourists to spend time on weekends and holidays. The slender park is divided in half by a man-made lake. Many bridges cross the lake and connect the two sides of the park. There are no tall buildings in the area, allowing for an unobstructed view of the local scenery. There is a small train museum in the park that showcases information about trains in Thailand.
