The monastery is beautiful, it is on the outskirts of Shangri-La town, however is definitely worth the drive! I would suggest that you first walk to the other side of the lake so that you can get a beautiful picture of the whole monastery in its full glory! Going up the steep stairs to get to the monetary is worth it! When you reach the top you feel a sense of peace surrounding the building as the monks walk around and enjoy their daily lives.

The views are breathtaking! You will go all the way up the mountain to experience the beauty of the Canyon! A photo cannot do it justice!The beautiful mountain peaks with a crystal clear river running down through the canyon- truly amazing!!!This was by far one of my favorite places in Shangri-La!  However the road to get in is a little scary and windy but well worth the ride!

Shengsi Island is AMAZING!!! We went over golden week and the weather was perfect. The beaches are peaceful and the sunsets are picturesque! I will definitely go there again! There are even some amazing foreign caf&eacute;s which made our stay even better.
