    Elaborate

The silver pagoda is in the Royal Palace complex. It's made of marble and stone and has a flooring of silver tiles. There is a pretty little garden in front and a woodland trail to the rear.

    The Silver Pagoda

It is a really beautiful temple. The floor is made of silver. There is blankets over most of it, which is a shame.

    Wow! Check out the floor!

The floor is made of more than 5,000 SOLID SILVER tiles! I wonder what they would be worth??? It's also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

Additional Information

Introduction

Wat Preah Keo Morokat, or the Silver Pagoda, is located in the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The pagoda, which is the most famous in Cambodia, was built in 1962 to replace an earlier wooden temple. Tourists enjoy views of Wat Preah Keo Morokat, which gets its name from the 5,281 silver tiles inlaid through out the temple. The pagoda also contains many Cambodian treasures including gold and jeweled statues of Buddha. Some of the more notable treasures housed there include a small 17th century baccarat crystal Buddha, often referred to as the "Emerald Buddha" of Cambodia, and a life sized Maitreya Buddha encrusted with 9,584 diamonds.
