The Plain of Jars

The well-known Lao stone jars are distributed on the Xiengkhouang Plateau, and there are 3 site sites. These stone jars are very old, with a history of more than 1,500 years. There are mottled traces of wind and rain on the walls of the stone jars, which are ancient and mysterious. There are many theories as to where the stone jars came from. One of the more credible ones is that in the sixth and seventh centuries AD, King Khun Trang of Laos led an army to fight bloody battles with the Vietnamese invading army, beheading the main generals of the Vietnamese army, and taking all the Vietnamese troops. Driven out of the country, Kun Zhuang ordered to make stone jars on the spot, brewed fine wine to reward the army, and surrounded the stone jar with the whole army and sang and danced to celebrate the victory. The No. 1 stone jar site is located 8 kilometers southwest of the city center of Fengshawan. It is a relatively close site. There are many stone jars and they are concentrated. There are 334 stone jars or fragments scattered. These stone jars are of different sizes. There are three or five clusters, and some are solitary, scattered in the field, which is more spectacular. Standing on the high hillside and looking over, you can clearly see the craters. The No. 2 stone jar site is slightly further away than the No. 1 site. There are 93 stone jars, 14 lids and 9 stones in the site, all of which are sandstone. A shallow ditch separates two small mounds full of stone jars. The stone jars on the mound are of different sizes and shapes. Climbing up the hill, you can also overlook the rolling mountains in the distance. To get to the No. 3 stone jar site, you need to pass through a piece of farmland. It is located on a lower hillside and faces the vast wilderness. The scenery along the No. 3 site is more beautiful. If you have time, it is recommended to go there once. It consists of 8 groups of stone jars with different shapes.
