This family-friendly simple restaurant is 5 minutes walk from the beach and every step is worth it. The food is delicious and tastes like Thai food, unlike some dishes in other beach restaurants, a MSG. The price is also very cheap and the staff is friendly. A friend of ours who lives on Phuket took my wife and I to his favourite local Beach Bar/Restaurant which was tucked away in spacious grounds at the far end of Bang Tao Beach - will fabulous views of the Bay itself - called Blue Siam. On arrival - with an old Arizona registered truck outside - the place looks rather run down but things get better as you approach the central bar area surrounded by comfortable (if a bit warm) seats overlooking the bay which is literally 10-15 yards away. My friend was obviously a regular so we were made most welcome with both our drinks and Thai snacks arriving quickly. Not the cheapest nor the most sophisticated Beach Bar/Restaurant on the Island but - if you can find it - certainly worth visiting, particularly at sunset!
