Big Buddha was awesome, I loved spending the day there with my wife. How ever my allergies didn’t agree with the atmosphere (burning incense) and laid me to waste. I toughed it out and once we left th...
Giant Buddah on the top of the mountain, great views to the ocean looking east. This is a massive Buddah that has been under construction for say 8 or 10 years. Its funded by donations. Great views, a...
The Big Buddha of Phuket is the most holy landmark on Phuket island. This imposing Guanyin Buddha statue is located on the Nakkerd Mountain between Chalong Port and Kata, facing Phang Nga Bay and with his back to the beautiful Andaman Sea. The Big Buddha is 45 meters tall, and is located at the peak of the mountain, at the center of Phuket. You only need to look up to see him. He is a symbol of peace and hope for local residents. The Big Buddha is the best place to overlook Phuket, and gazing out at the faraway sea provides a feeling of peace.
What an amazing adventure. Stayed 15 days on the Island of Phuket in Thailand for days of endless sun and adventure. Rented motorcycles from the first day and explored every beautiful part of the island and it’s culture. One of my favorite travel locations in South East Asia.
Impressive view from the hill top... Visited by locals as well as tourist. Food and toilet facilities available. Monkeys can be a little over inquisitive and friendly. Remember to cover legs and shoulders, clothican be borrowed when entering the complex. Unfortunately it seems some tourists haven't any respected for other culture's, luckily the locals are very tolerant... No charge for entry, just a request for donations...
Phuket City, on Phuket Island, is the capital of Thailand’s Phuket Province. In the Old Town, Thalang Road is lined with colorful 19th-century shophouses and Sino-Portuguese buildings. Built in 1903 by a wealthy tin merchant, Baan Chinpracha mansion has Italian floor tiles, shuttered windows and antique furniture. Set in a 1930s manor, the Thai Hua Museum has exhibits on Phuket’s culture and history. It Sach a great experience to visit there.
Located at the top of the mountain in Chalong Bay, Phra Putthamingmongkolekanagagiri—or Phuket Big Buddha—is not too far from Chalong Temple. Built of white jade imported from Myanmar, this sitting Buddha faces east to overlook Phang Nga Bay and the Andaman Sea. Because the Buddha sits on the atop the tallest point on Phuket Island, it can be seen from anywhere in Phuket. Many visitors like to climb to the top of the mountain and look out at the beautiful seascape from the peak’s perfect vantage point.
