Po Toi Island
Hong Kong’s South Pole - Po Toi Island Day trip to Po Toi with kids’ buddies. Even at outdoor, mask on face at all time (maybe not, for photo purposes). So, where is this Po Toi I’m talking about? Po Toi located at the most southern of Hong Kong, hence the nickname “HK South Pole “. It is popular for its rocks formations and seaweeds; and of course camping and hiking with incredible views. Took the only ferry on Tuesday at 10am from Aberdeen to Po Toi. It’s approximately 45mins ride. Then begins our walk by turning left once leaving the pier, and continue walking in clockwise direction. It’s a circular trail. So you’ll be covering Old Mansion of Family Mo, Coffin Rock then stop at Ngau Wu Teng (which is the highest point of Po Toi) for some snacks and tea break. Then continue walking, it’s going downhill towards second part of the circular trail, with rocks formations such as tortoise rock, monk rock, palm cliff and passing the 126 lighthouse. This area in the southernmost circular trail. It is also the shortest, and most popular camping site on Po Toi Island. * Distance: approx 5km * Altitudes: 188m * Time: approx 3 hours (breaks included) * Toilet: cubicle toilet at pier and beginning point of circular trail part 2 * Difficulties: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (plenty of stairs heading up and down with no shades for 2/3 of the trail) * Scenic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ How to get there: - from Aberdeen : Tues & Thurs depart at 10am , 3.30pm from Po Toi ; Sat at 10am or 3pm, 2pm or 4pm returning from Po Toi via Stanley; Sun at 8.15am with 6pm returning via Stanley. - from Stanley : Sat at 1.20pm, 2pm or 4pm from Po Toi; public holiday have 4 time slots back and forth. Shing Mun Reservoir
Shing Mun Country Park An easy and relaxing walk along the Reservoir, a loop trail We kickstart our 2021 with a family activity involving picnic and hiking at Shing Mun Country Park. It is a simple and relatively easy hike with mostly paved road, and some slopes with max elevation of 250m. We decided to go for a loop along the shoreline of the dam. Average time: 3.5 hours Distance: approx 8 km Toilet: There are public toilets/ cubicles along the trail. Replenishing stations: No eateries or kiosks in the park, so bring your own snacks and drinks. Starting point at the Pineapple Dam Nature Trail, passing the Paperback Forest which offers beautiful sky-high treetops, emerging with wilson trail sec 7, heading to Shing Mun Reservoir Upper Dam, taking the Maclehose Trail Dec 7 towards bbq area sites, back on Shing Mun Road where you’ll see the full view of the dam, then follow the path that loops back to Pineapple Dam. 📍Alert: Lots of monkeys 🐒 and they are aggressive when see food/ plastics bags. Please be cautious. Difficulties: ⭐️ Scenic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ How to get there: - Taxi straight to Shing Mun Reservoir (城門水塘郊野公園) - MTR to Tsuen Wan station, exit B1, take minibus 82 straight to the last stop at Shing Mun Reservoir X #hongkongkids #hongkongparents #hongkongfamily #hongkongmom #outdoor #adventure #hiking #naturetrail #nature #hikingtrail #familyactivity #childrenhiking #outdoorkids #hktrail #tsuenwan #shingmun #reservoir #mykids馬拉港孩 #戶外活動 #行山 #親子行山 #親子活動 #香港兒童 #香港媽媽 #親親大自然 #城門水塘 #親子遊 #週末好去處 #假日好去處 #荃灣

Tuen Mun District,Recommendations
Tuen Mun Trail to Lam Tei Resevoir On a Sunday, few weeks ago, we explored the recently famous family hiking trail, the “rainbow railings” along Tuen Mun Trail and took the route to Lam Tei Reservoir. The starting point is at the Maclehose Trail Endpoint, which is near the Ho Fuk Tong light rail station or Tuen Mun Town Plaza. Take a deep breathe and here we go ! Slowly hike up the stairs, enjoy the city view of Tuen Mun along Tuen Mun. Honestly, the rainbow railings are alright, snap a couple of photos but it’s just... railings. What excites us are the route to Lam Tei Reservoir. We took a detour, lead my experienced friends. Please do follow the signs and cemented roads towards the reservoir. Route: Ho Fuk Tong light rail station > Ho Fuk Tong College > Maclehose Trail Endpoint > Maclehose Trail Sec 10 > Tuen Mun Trail > Yuek Mung Yuen > Tuen Mun Trail Dec 2 > Fu Tei Barbecue area > Lam Tei Reservoir > Fu Tei Road ^ we then walk back to San Hui Station along castle peak road, passing Ling Nam University, Fung Tei Garden. Difficulties: ⭐️⭐️ (certain level of physical strength is required for going uphill, many stairs at the beginning of the hike) Scenic: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Average time: 3.5 hours Distance: 9.6km How to get there: - Tuen Mun MTR station, walk or take the light rail and get off at Ho Fuk Tong Station. If you had enough after the route ends at Fu Tei Road and walk about 10 minutes more ... hop on to MTR station near Lingnam University OR buses to Tsuen Wan/ Kwai Fong/ Mongkok at Brilliant Garden. #hkhiking #hongkong #hiking #familyactivities #family #nature #hikingadventures
