Pingnan

Pingnan County (屏南县) is situated in the northeast of Fujian Province, and is under the administration of Ningde City. Since the county seat, Shuangxi, is located south of Cuiping Mountain, the Yongzheng Emperor named the county “Pingnan” (literally “south of Ping”). Clean, gravel-less water flows steadily over the riverbed of the Baishuiyang Scenic Area, shimmering incandescently in the light of the sun, from where the name “Baishuiyang” (literally “clear water ocean”) is derived. Together, the sunlight, clear water and erosion marks form the spectacle of a gorgeously colorful riverbed. The region is also home to natural and cultural attractions such as the Wan’an Bridge and National Geopark.
