Built in the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty, the Pingxiang Friendship Pass was called Zhennan Pass in ancient times. The steep cliffs of Zuoyu Mountain stand to the left of the small fort that occupies the pass, while the steep cliffs of Fushan Mountain tower to the right. Both sets of cliffs can be climbed for a look around. One of the two mountains is shorter than the other. After climbing up to the top of the shorter one, visitors can admire the ancient fort and appreciate the history and majesty of the former town of Nanguan. Upon reaching the summit of the taller mountain, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Sino-Vietnamese border. At present, the Pingxiang Friendship Pass is an important passageway on the Sino-Vietnamese border.
