The library is located at the southernmost end of the ancient city of Polonnaruva, adjacent to the statue of Poloromobocho I. It is a wall thick and hollow, similar to the building of Shelita, which is considered to be a Tibetan pavilion for the storage of holy books. It is actually a circular temple, with four smaller solid round towers at four corners around the central dome, forming a rectangular Sinhalese plum five-point arrangement.

Wandering in the ancient city of Polonnaruvo, I found this Pothgul Viharaya Library. The driver guide said that it is the oldest library in Sri Lanka. It used to collect a lot of valuable Buddhist scriptures. Unfortunately, these valuable historical documents can no longer be seen. But it appears to have done its historical task as a collection and dissemination function for the once-historical library.
The overall architectural style is very unique and great.
