Pyongyang Travel Guide

Pyongyang is the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as well as its political, economic, and cultural center. In ancient times, the city was known as “Ryugyong” (literally: “Capital City of Willow Trees”). Pyongyang is located in the northwest of the Korean peninsula and is known for its flat topography. Pyongyang is a famous tourist destination. The city has preserved its Goguryeo Old City and historic sites such as Anhak Palace and Kwangbop Temple. The Sino-Korean Friendship Tower is a location that Chinese tourists regularly visit. It is where the names of martyrs from the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army who died in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea are recorded.
